Jac Jossa spoke about wanting to be in the show for years before she got pregnant. She's had a taste of life away from EastEnders but I think she'll stick with it when she returns.

Diane Parish is an odd one because she's been there for nine years but she had a decent career before the show. I'm on the fence about her and if she did sadly announce she was leaving I wouldn't be surprised. She'd easily find work.

Corrie should pray Alison King comes back and in my mind the best thing they could do is make her the new landlady of the Rovers.

All the old regulars”

I agree with the list above and would also add David and Kylie and possibly Sarah now she's back.

Some of the above are quite unpopular on this forum for example Fiz and Tyrone or Michelle but they have become integrated strongly within the street due to the length of time they have been there and the relationships they have formed. Personally I don't mind Fiz (while she isn't my favorite character) and think her and Tyrone could work well in the future with a family.

I personally don't like the character of Sean at all but I can't deny that it's unlikely he won't still be around in 10 years time. Ditto with Dev.

Of course if all the above stayed it would also mean that Hope, Ruby, Jack, Jake, Lily, Max, Amy, Simon, The Alahan twins, Joesph and Liam will still be there (albeit most of them with new heads) and growing up.

The only character who is not there at the moment who may return and stay with the soap that I can think of at the moment is Peter Barlow.

Please, Carla will just drink the place dry.

And why wouldn't she come back? She has left before, and from my understanding this is only temporary. Although I hope she stays away as Carla is an annoying, overdone and overrated character.

I have been starting to feel this for some time now, which I find sad because Carla was once a good, if not particularly likeable character!! She has just been used so diproportionately to the rest of the cast over the last 6 years or so that she has become well & truly drained dry as a character, there's nothing left for me!! Maybe 2 or 3 years away will refresh her but the VERY LAST thing we need is her becoming Rover's landlady as well, sorry!!

Georgie Parker had a career before Home and Away on stage and TV. I wouldn't be surprised if she gets fed up with having no storylines and quitting. She's very much loved in Australia.

Although I haven't watched Home and Away in years, I am suprised that Justine Clarke didn't return as Roo. Could be that she has given up acting.

Justine Clarke now has a career as a TV presenter and turned down the chance to return.
I agree that Georgie hasn't had the best stories and there is so much more could be done with Roo (do we even know what she did during her 20 year absence? What really happened with the money she got for Martha?) but I think Georgie is probably at an age now where she is settled in her life and is happy to be working and not always after the next thing anymore. And let's face it, of everything Georgie has worked on, yes they have been successful, but nothing lasts as long as H&A does in Australia

I Roxy haven't been added to that list but I can't see Roxy leaving but Ronnie I'm not sure of as her return in 2013 was never meant to be permanent

Amazing that for a 43 year old soap Emmerdale only has ten characters (played by the original actors) from pre-2000, I'd like the show to build up on the long standing characters
