I don't think the trailer was just for this week's episodes.

I'm pleased no Sharma's. The ruin Emmerdale for me.

I was quite annoyed about this as well. Around half the cast wasn't even involved in the explosion and after all the hype, I feel this week has been a big let-down to be perfectly honest. I will say that it has been quite emotional, but I was expecting more deaths, shock twists and more stunts. Really thought we was going to have a sinkhole stunt! The explosion and crash was really good, but thought it would feature more stunts like fires or more explosions. Don't know what to say really, they built it so much and then it happened and just felt OK and mediocre. Emmerdale should have aired a massive surprise death, like someone who no one thought was at the celebrations and then they was found under the rubble dead. This still could happen tomorrow though and I've got a gut feeling there is going to be at least one more death. I think that it will be Diane from head injuries/brain haemorrhage...

I don't think this is moaning for the sake of it.

Someone is rightfully questioning why characters who were prominent in the trailer weren't in the episodes.

I would've loved to have seen a Val-style ending for Jai though!

Red herrings?

The whole point of the trailer was "Who will meet their Summer fate?" implying that many of them wouldn't.

I agree. The whole thing is very odd.

I doubt it. Diane was checked over by the paramedics, they wouldn't have let her go if they thought she may be in danger. Also to add, Ross died of these injuries; they won't have another character die the same way.

To throw us off the scent.

I wish Jai had died though

The trailer didn't specify they'd all be possible casualties in the disaster though, did they?

Fate doesn't have to mean death....

Wouldn't we all! I was so hoping he or Pete would die this week...

On reflection, the stunts were really quite disappointing, especially as they had been hyped up so much by Emmerdale. 'Biggest ever', 'bigger than the plane crash' and other hyperbole have been in most articles about the disaster, but the reality, for me, didn't live up to that.

I have since rewatched part of the plane crash episodes as well as the Brookside helicopter crash and both were far superior to what Emmerdale offered this week in terms of the stunt itself.

I did, however, think that the stories in this week's Emmerdale were far more compelling.

I thought the trailer was for the whole summer

I thought it was quite clever how characters appeared in the trailer but not the episodes. Keeps you guessing.

If there is one thing I usually hate about soap that is predictability. Emmerdale this week had the element of surprise.

I thought at first the trailer reflected the stunt, but on reflection the people in the trailer will all be affected in some way by the aftermath, so as you say it is their fate for the rest of the summer not just the accident,

for example, With all the build up re the baby I thought either Adam or Victoria were going to die, maybe even Vanessa but no he is going to take a part in the babys life. Lots of opportunities for s/l 's out of that scenario, Pete and Debbie going forward is another s/l. Everybody in the trailer is going to be impacted one way or another,

I hate when they say this is the biggest thing we've ever done; nothing will ever be as big as the plane given the nature of the storyline and the scale of the disaster that happened. The only thing that could realistically top IT would be some far fetched storyline about their being an air raid across North Yorkshire, an earthquake type disaster or something massive that takes in the village and beyond. A helicopter and some gas canisters is limited whereas the plane crash was spread across the countryside for miles and briught destruction far beyond the village hall or woolpack etc. How can they top the scale or the horror of that? Why even try?

I assumed that the trailer might relate to other summer stories as well as the stunt. but there's also no reasob why the characters featured can't be affected by the fallout. I thought that Vanessa might miscarry due to the shock, or the baby could be at risk, then the truth comes out. Alicia will come back for the funeral and David might decide to stay with his Dad
