Would they have given Charlie Hardwick the HIV storyline

if they knew she would ask to leave.

I expect they gave her the storyline, as she had been on Emmerdale for years, before having been gven the stortyline, and thought she would still be there years later, to follow through the storyline, until the end or near the end, like Mark Fowler in Esstenders.

*follow through to the end.....

Well, most HIV+ live pretty much normal life expectancy so it would be a very long storyline to play out. HIV storylines in today's world shouldn't lead to a HIV/AIDS related death.

Yeah what i meant was something simular to Mark in Eastenders, we saw him cope with it through all th stages, and he only left when he wanted to get away to die

Yes her dying does seem contrary to the story they were trying to tell IE that given an early diagnosis and the right treatment HIV doesn't have to be the immediate killer that many imagine. Obviously HIV didn't kill her but surely the idea was to see her cope with the disease not just be killed in some sensationalist way relatively early after her diagnosis

Im not to well up on the HIV virus but wouldnt somebody have had to tell the ambulance and firemen about her status??...The glass that came down on her must have caused a lot of blood loss???

They would be treating her with gloves etc anyway, almost as if assuming a patient has HIV. Also Val was on meds so her viral load was probably non-detectable making the likelihood of transmission very very low.

I'm glad she's gone, I was sick of hearing about her HIV.

As a side issue, was her HIV ever even mentioned in regards her "fake her death and flee to the Americas" plan? I don't imagine HIV treatment in Mexico is as handy as in the UK. No NHS doling out anti-virals.
