Vincent & Flavia - Training

I’m getting two for the price of one this year! Vincent and Flavia, it’s lovely to have you back this year! It’s a shame you two couldn’t do the main series.

Yes, we were very sad that we couldn’t do it this year but we’re just so busy with our tour and lots of other stuff going on… But at least we get to visit you once a week and go over the training footage!

Exactly! Every cloud has a silver lining! So shall we get stuck in?

Right, first up we have William Hague and Joanne, who will be dancing a Cha Cha Cha. Flavia, how’s this looking to you?

It is a bit of a slow start, I’ll say. He does look very uncomfortable, but it is the first week so I guess it is understandable.

Have you any advice for his Cha Cha? I’m guessing he’ll be quite nervous!

Yes, it wouldn’t surprise me! He just needs to loosen up a bit and let go. His legs are looking quite tight and restricted here, whereas the Cha Cha needs that fast flowing action; his is very stop and start-y. I’m sure it’ll get better by Saturday though.

Yes, fingers crossed. Big hugs to you William and Joanne! Now we have Jeff Hordley with Natalie. Now, they’re doing a Jive this week - a tough first dance. Vincent, what do you think?

I’m actually quite surprised by this; it is looking very good. The Jive is a very tricky dance for your first dance, but it doesn’t seem to be holding back. I think he’ll be one to watch.

Flavia, what do you think?

Yep, one to watch. It’s looking good.

Oh well done Jeff, ticking the boxes indeed. Now finally, we have Laura Whitmore and Tristan, who will be dancing the Waltz this Saturday. Vincent, shed some light, please!

Well, what can I say? She’s got the frame sorted and the emotive body language is on point. One little point that the judges may pick up on is the footwork looks a little clumsy, but if she continues like that, she’ll be here for a while.

So, let’s shoot straight in. Now, the gorgeous Mimi Keene is doing a Jive this week. So, can you give us a glimpse of her outfit?

I surely can. Her Jive is going to be a fifties inspired dance - shock horror - and here is the dress we’ve made for it.

Wow, I love that!

Me too. We’re going to bring the hem up quite a bit, to make it a bit shorter so there’s lots of space for the kicks, but other than that, that’s her dress pretty much done.

I wish I could take that home as it is! And you’ve also got lovely Moira Stuart’s Waltz dress?

Yes we do. Now Moira’s Waltz is going to be a very classy and romantic feel, so we’ve gone for a blue/silver traditional ballroom gown with lots of sparkles. Moira told me before the series that she didn’t want anything too bold or too long that she might trip up, so I think we’ve found the perfect fit for her with this.

I love it - it’s so dreamy! I’m sure she’ll love it too, it’s gorgeous. Thank you so much Vicky Gill, everybody!
