Phil is a dick.
He got even with Max over the arches, and there's a possibility that he is innocent. It's horrible watching him make Carol who has been through the same thing as his mum (cancer and a mastectomy) squirm.

But without Max will the police go back to Ben ? He has a reason to want Max in prison .
