As a good minion should.
Whoever has the last word is the one in control, in their relationship that's almost always Vanessa.
I can't think of any alliance in BB, however balanced, where someone isn't being worked and their "partner" isn't doing the working. Chilltown perhaps? Even if they get all the way to F2 together. Dan>>>Memphis, or Derrick>>>Cody. Someone is always in control. So it goes.
The above matters only if you really believe Vanessa was truly willing to use the Veto. I don't. She promised to use it on both nominees, which tells me she wanted to play, but only to try to keep herself safe. If she had won and used it, she would have lost Austwins, because they would have obviously realised Vanessa was willing to possibly sacrifice one of them, to keep Shelli. Do you think Shelli is worth that kind of sacrifice to Vanessa? I don't.
Shelli showed how limited her thinking is, without being able to consult Vanessa. As soon as Becky told her about the backdoor she should have realised she needed to jump off the sinking ship (as Steve did). She is going to need a new alliance. She should have been thinking about trying to mend fences with the very pissed off ADC. Becky was offering to clear the path for her. But no. By picking Vanessa for the Veto, she showed them all that even in extremis she still wanted to continue to stay out on her private island with Vanessa.
Still, BB wouldn't be near such fun, if we all saw things the same way.....

The twins were happening no matter what; might as well use it to your advantage.
Even Jackie said when she won HoH "I think the fans want to see them succeed, but the week after they both come in we'll target them". Like it or not, a lot of players like to please the public now... even Derrick kept Donny much longer than he wanted to.
As a good minion should? Don't you mean ally? What good is it to Shelli's game to let Vanessa or anyone else she's aligned with to make a move that she doesn't think benefits them? You don't let your allies hang themselves when you need the numbers to advance in this game.
Vanessa was clear to both Steve and Shelli - the person who picks me I will use it on, it's not like she lied to them both and said 'if I win I'll use it on you', she made no secret of them having to pick her to play for her to use it on them, so I think that tells us that she would have used it. I don't really see why she wouldn't; she'd get the twins to push for Austin to go on the block, and no matter how Becky tried to twist it, the blood would be on her hands, not Vanessa's.
Becky's so lucky Vanessa didn't win and pull Shelli off because she'd be screwed in the double eviction; she'd have five people mad at her - Shelli/Vanessa/Steve/Austin/Liz/Julia (remove one/the evictee). Her plan to sit down Vanessa and tell her to choose which twin goes up would have been hilarious to watch... yeah, that would've been a great move, Becky!
Personally, I'd have done what Shelli did and picked Vanessa.
The lines are already drawn and even if she somehow wormed her way back in with Summer Camp, she's definitely at the bottom of the pack just waiting to be picked off.
Shelli will never be able to work with Meg, Jackie or James in the game... What's saved her this week is her relationship with Becky and John, that's why Vanessa's going home and not Shelli. James, Jackie and Meg have discussed wanting to keep Vanessa over Shelli this week apparently, but they're letting Becky have the final say (that's what I read on Jokers, anyway), so Shelli trying to please Summer Camp won't work... they're done with her.
