. Maybe they are drug mules. They go to Gran Canaria, pick up the merchandise, come back. Claudette gives Vincent most of the stock to sell on while Claudette sells directly to Les who has a coke habit, hence why he has no money.

From what I know IIRC Kathy did know gavin or at least his family before going to south Africa....they already lived there and if I'm right I think he or his family reconnected with her once she got out there.

I cannot remember Kathy ever saying she knew again before, but I think it could easily be a possibility. Kathy went over there to be with her brother Ted. They could easily say that Ted moved their in the first place cos he was an old mate of Gavin's.
