That was just beautiful. Val's final exit was just gorgeous and a perfect tribute to a fabulous character. It was so well done.

And really, anyone that can't understand that it was all in his head - you're either lacking in imagination or you just love slagging off great TV.

And that WAS great TV.

('Macbeth') - Banquo's ghost was stupid - it spoilt the whole play for me!

That bloody Lady Macbeth. Why doesn't she just get some Cilit Bang for that damned spot!

It was abit cheesy but i think it was a good twist. The first 15 mins i was starting to wonder if she actually had faked her death, and that maybe there happened to be someone else in hall of mirrors. Think it would have been better though if rather then her just disappear at the end, david checked on him through the window and saw him talking to nobody. Was good though

Midsummer Night's Dream - (which I love, I hasten to add! )

Is this a kids play, all those fairies. As if adults would believe in fairies. And as for the weaver having a donkey's head! Rubbish characters and rubbish storyline.

Sadly I think he did imagine her. As he looked disappointed when he looked at the cigarette packet. Wonder why they don't show us if it was in there or not. Unless they wanted to leave it to the audiences imagination.

I do miss the days when people understood the meaning of the phrase "capturing the imagination".

It shouldn't have worked but it did. Chris Chittel was fantastic! And Charlie Hardwick was pretty good too!

So did I. When my father died unexpectedly (although he had been ill for many years), he came to me the next night, smartly dressed and looking really well. He told me he was fine and not to grieve for him. I know it was probably just a dream but it seemed so real and gave me great comfort, so I do not think this is a silly storyline.

That's really lovely.

I had a dream about my grandad who said the same. I really believe he came to me.

Yes, I've seen quite a few posts tonight, on here and elsewhere, saying exactly the same thing and I don't think it was silly at all, just very moving. Helped of course by Chris Chittell's amazing and understated performance.

This happened to me not long after my nan died. She lived only three doors down from me and every time I passed she'd be there in the kitchen window, stood by the door, fag in her hand (so the smoke wouldn't go in the house and nobody would know she'd been smoking) until the day she wasn't there no more. This particular night I was looking, as I always do out of habit, into the empty doorway, and suddenly it wasn't empty. She was stood there clear as day just as she'd always been, and she looked fine, just like she had before she got ill. I had a conversation with her but every time I tried to move closer to hug her she started fading away until I backed off. She told me she was fine and well again now and not to worry about her and then she was gone. I've no idea if it was a dream or not, if it was though, why couldn't I touch her. Like you, it seemed very real and bought me a lot of comfort and it was lovely to 'see and speak' to her again if only for a short while.

Yes I agree. It seemed to me to be more comical than Eric grieving for Val. It was not good.

I disagree with you. I hated all that rubbish. Yo me I think it spoilt tonights show. That is just my opinion. I don't believe in ghosts anyway.

I agree I loved it. I've watched all the soaps causally for many years and seen all the various big exits but for me, for some reason this one really brought tears to my eyes. The show will miss Val.
