It was brilliant. When someone you really love dies, there's one thing you just want so much that it hurts, and that's to see their face just one more time, and talk to them one more time. You long for it. Eric's mind gave him that.

I cried through the whole thing. And Charley Hardwick and Chris Chittell were amazing.

After Val's extremely unsettling 'final' scene it was a perfect send off for the character and farewell to them as on on-screen partnership.

Yet again, I found myself wondering how all of the other characters caught up in the disaster were faring and where the rest of the cast we haven't seen all week actually were.

All sense of time in Emmerdale this week has been severely disjointed and somewhat confusing. I expect that next week, all missing villagers will suddenly reappear again, the rest will be seen nursing their grazes and finally realising that the pilot dropped into the wedding for a vol au vent uninvited!

I thought it was lovely to see a couple of oldsters taking centre stage - made a change from the youngsters.
