Cain had an aneurysm which was about to rupture. The operation was done through keyhole surgery. Once its done and the rupture is prevented recovery time is extremely quick.

credit card? savings? Same place as people get the money to spend thousands on their kids' promHe wasn't hiring it for the day, just an hour or so surely. He probably maxed out a credit card (or two)

exactly

[quote=Flukie;79202965]The canister hitting the helicopter was hilariously far-fetched. Miles and miles of empty sky and a tiny canister hits a passing helicopter

You could use the 'improbability' argument with a lot of stunts surely? What was the chance of a tram derailing and hitting Coronation St? Or a plane hitting Beckindale? In reality what were the chances of a helicopter crashing into a crowded pub? Or the plane hitting the small town of Lockerbie, not the surrounding countryside? That's partly why these incidents are so tragic and shocking - they're highly unlikely to happen. but sometimed they do.

Did wonders for it my arse, ripped it apart at the seams more like. Kate Oates did the wonders, putting it back together again afterwards, which must have been a bloody mammoth task.”

You're exaggerating most episodes produced by Blackburn were over 7 million and the aftermath of Cameron killing Carl were over 7 million too. None of Kate Oates own storylines have reached the same amount of millions that Blackburn's did she only got the job because Blackburn was offered the Corrie job and took it he was meant to stay for another year Emmerdales loss is Corrie's gain.

Is it so difficult to let the soap enjoy it's moment to shine, most people that watched it this week loved it.

Soap viewing has declined across the board. I'd argue that Corrie's viewing figures in the Blackburn era have declined more quickly than Emmerdale's.

I do think they have become too disaster heavy to the point where they are relying on it like a crutch. The sad thing is that some of those character moments were so wonderfully done that if Oates and the writers can bother to write character dialogue like that without having to have an outlandish disaster or stunt the show would be so much better than it is.

I assume you (and many others) don't know this, but, the stunt was ITV's idea, and one that was put into motion in the last few months. ITV told KO to speed up the storylines by a month, which is why Paddy was in two near-death situations in the space of a week. KO did an interview with GMB where she basically said all of this.

So really, criticism of the pacing should be directed at ITV.

I do think KO has tried to ground the stunt as much as possible. I thought the Diane/Val scenes were awesome, and so were the Eric/Ghost Val scenes, which were all well written and full of emotion. Ruby's death could have been quick, but by making it a slow death, it was able to pack more an emotional punch, and develop Kerry's character, too. They made me care for a character who I had never cared about for the 4 years she was on the show.

There was aspects of the stunt that were cliché and predictable, and the stunt wasn't really necessary, but I blame that on ITV. The mirror maze scenes more than made up for the short comings of the chopper stunt.

People are comparing ED to Hollyoaks, but if this was HO, there would be no aftermath at all; no drawn out emotional scenes; no investment in characters; just a hollow stunt.
