I know the fairground was closed at the time of the crash but it would have been opening soon after the wedding, so where are all the fair workers?
Also wouldn't Rodney be spending some time with them as they were friends of his?

To say it was supposedly laid on for the benefit of the wedding guests it was eerily deserted.

At any fair or circus I've ever seen they always pitch up in the same area. What happened to them? Why weren't they and the other villagers out in the street, finding out what had happened and trying to help?

I still can't figure out how Val and Diane were locked in, who accessed the keys?

Rodney probably, he was good friends with the one of the owners.

Robin Askwith was only in the one episode wasn't he?

Bit of a waste surely?

I was hoping for a 'full on 70's sex symbol revival' between him & Patrick Mower!

Run by old Mr Johnson, the Janitor? Soon to be exposed by Scooby Doo and the gang?

Was it closed? I'm sure April came down the slide at one point, and then ran over to the merry go round, which was in operation?

Anyway, forget the workers, what about the villagers? Where were they? Jimmy, Leyla, Bernice, Harriet, Priya, Ashley, Brenda, Laurel... and that's just off the top of my head - the list is endless!

For such a big stunt, so few characters were involved; that was the biggest disappointment, for me.

I hear you!

They missed out on a golden opportunity of doing what they do best - bringing this tragedy-ridden community (and talented cast) together in the wake of a disaster of epic proportions, but sadly we didn't get that.

Barely anyone knew that Val and Diane were trapped in the Hall of Mirrors or that Ruby had been almost sliced in half.

Re-watching the Plane Crash of 1993 and the entire village are concerned about eachother's safety and well being - forming search groups and immediate first aid for the survivors - initially unaware of the scale and magnitude of the disaster until dawn breaks to reveal the terrible truth and utter devastation. These episodes were epic at the time and I expected "SummerFate" week to play out in a similar way.

There are endless clues and references in the first episode that something major is about to go down ... Classic Emmerdale, they don't make it like this anymore!

If everything had gone right, and no helicopter crash what would have happened to Diane and Val? Stuck there all night until the 3 musketeers came back? Or did Eric leave the keys somewhere? Because otherwise also, no-one would have been able to use the hall of mirrors. Just lazy contrived writing really...

I though the disaster was underwhelming on the whole apart from the Val and Diane scenes, which I enjoyed. I can't really add anything that hasn't been said already about the complete lack of people at the wedding/in the village during the disaster. You could maybe use the excuse that a lot of people were out for the day, or on holiday but it seemed wrong somehow to have half the cast missing at such an event. And don't get me started on Ross and Debbie!!!

Can't say I worried about all that, some of the Emmerdale cast are getting on a bit I was glad not to see the older members involved really as it's quite gruelling doing scenes all day like that. Also I was so upset about Ruby the fairground workers never featured in my mind at all.

If they had been there and working the death toll could have been huge perhaps they just wanted the select few deaths not a blood bath ?

I've wandered around fairgrounds that haven't opened for business yet and they are *always* deserted.... you never see any of the dodgy carneys because they're all out on the rob... I imagine that the Emmerdale ones were out burgling peoples houses.

Also, its the law that Helter skelter must be accessible at all times and the merry go round will be. always. on its own and unattended.

It definitely wasn't closed; yes April was on the slide, we also saw Chas and Kerry on it. And yes, why was there so many villagers missing? Rachel, Sam (?), Lisa, Jai, Megan, Rakesh and Kirin were all also missing. Fair enough not everybody would be at the wedding but why would so many vacate the village at the same time?

The fair was definitely closed because when Kerry wanted a bum selfie for her compo claim Dan told her she couldn't do anything as the thing was closed. It's a shame there weren't any more villagers involved though. It was a good opportunity to get rid of a few more of them. I hope Chrissy goes down for manslaughter or messing about with fires or something because her crying was so bad it was cringeworthy and she needs to go. Diane and Val were excellent and showed her up to be downright crap.
