Good all round day for every channel bar ITV. New Tricks climbed by 400k and solid as ever. Great night for BBC2. The less said about ITV the better really. Educating Yorkshire still strong and hardly lost any audience from the first episode. I think it started with 1.8m last week so that is very impressive. CBB climbs a little again and highest since premiere.

Eastenders beaten by Holby? Surely not a regular occurrence or just because of the EE/ED Clash?

Anyone think a changing rooms/ground force revival could work now, with all this appeal of looking inside people's homes, I just have this instinct it could be successful in that bake off slot.

The EastEnders repeat rating on BBC3 and Canal programme rating on BBC4 standout in multi channel ratings. BBC2 had a good evening in primetime.

Looks like CBB was hit by the Bank Holiday. So X Factor should see a rise on Sunday you'd assume.

Two hours of unappealing factual on ITV. Somebody needs to have a word with Richard Klein.

Looks like one of Holby City's highest ratings in weeks.

Definitely due to the soap clash.

Interesting to note that the Eastenders share is identical to the clash the previous Tuesday which had 22.2% and on the Thursday it had 22.0%

The BBC Three figure is higher in numbers and share last night than the previous two clashes Thursday 3.5% 578k and Tuesday night 4.2% 697k

A particularly horrific Tuesday at the end of a particularly horrific summer, in an especially horrific year. The wheels have well and truly come off at ITV.

Did the new look This Morning do well Bushmills?

Beaten almost 4:1 by BBC One news. No wonder they're dumping it on Wednesdays for Champions' League highlights soon.

It certainly will help. But having to rely on one drama that's coming to an end, and another which is about a decade old, isn't healthy at all.

This Morning got 1.1m / 18.7%.

DS's headline about Emmerdale getting 6 and a half million viewers must be wrong. Even including the repeat it didn't get that.

Loads more soap clashes on the horizon instigated by ITV so I hope the BBC play hardball with Strictly.

And it's fairly safe to assume that neither will play on a Tuesday, the night ITV abandoned years ago …

ITV still needs a raft of successful and distinctive returning series. It's amazing to think how they towered over the opposition in this field 20 years ago.

He's right that more people are watching via catch-up but it can't be all of them for a rating like that. It's also a reason X Factor never needed before.

The BARB online rating report will throw some light on things. The X Factor would need to do some Bake Off sized timeshifts to get over 9m let alone match last years 10.65m rating. X Factor and BGT usually add around 1.5m.

Anything is possible of course. We'll see when the consolidated ratings are out.

Best of those programmes was India Natures Wonderland, Also I think Channel 5 may be better to put Hotel Inspector on at 20:00 as I felt the timeslot was a bit late for that type of programme.

Rating of the night for me? 1 million for a programme on canals on BBC Four.

It's a new 6-part series - they premiered it last Friday at 7.30 with the appropriate one to each BBC region and this is now the whole series on BBC4.

Good, solid interesting documentary - no 'celeb' leading it - (never heard of the presenter myself).
