What do we expect strictly to get this weekend?

I'm not sure how its going to fair this year, last year it was on a Sunday wasn't it?

It got 8.43m 33% share, I reckon it could dip quite a bit jugging how last years final disappointed.

7.8m I recon. And I think the XFactor will increase because of having strictly on before it. But I honestly believe they will be closer that a lot think.

I recon 8 m > 8.5m on the night. There is a lot of buzz, the SCD forum here is active.

Far better then XF, I can see the families saying OK you get the footie then I get SCD.

Does the launch show usually rate as well as the proper dancing shows? I think it will manage to nudge 8 million, with X Factor a million less at 7 million.

9m for SCD there is a massive following for strictly and the viewers enjoy the bad dancers more than the good dancers.

It's usually the lowest rated show of the series, probably because not a lot actually happens- If it can match last year then it'd be a big success I think- Realistically, 8m+ would be a good start

I think it will be closer than anticipated.

Yeah, it'll do well if it matches last year's figures. I can't really see it being up on last year, unless we have snow of course

Last year if I recall correctly it was on a Sunday as Saturday's had " Tumble" it clashed with XF and won on the night.

This year there is only a small overlap and in its traditional slot.

So it will be up on the launch show of 2014 and XF is no longer serious competition.

Lots of buzz, - there is a " spoiler" thread, I think there is pent up excitement for its return. Many celebs have strong followings.

I'm going for

X Factor 6.4m
Strictly 8.1m

Strictly may be a bit generous, but hey, I'm banking on Peter Andre pulling in the ITV housewives.

Well obviously the fans who hang out on the SCD forum are going to be excited. That's not an indication of the nationwide level of interest.

Well let's see on Saturday, there is buzz nationwide, lots of people telling about it, there was a drip feed release of contestants. That's kept it in the papers.

The reverse is on the XF forum and DS reports, Simon being booed, Nick can't choose from the boys as they are all so bad.

I'm rubbish at this game. My answer is God knows!

Strictly could see a slight dip like some other shows this year, the contestants had even Strictly fans saying it lacks star power, might not excite the casual audience to watch plus it's on Saturday instead of the higher rating Sunday.

On the other hand people watch because it's Strictly, it doesn't have a full on clash with The X Factor like last year, Saturday launch shows rate better the later they start and this year's starts after 7pm.

Strictly launch shows have so far not had 9m in overnights and I think it is doubtful it will this year. But....

I don't know! I just don't know!

BBC try and leave ITV alone when it suits them and vice versa. If Strictly was the struggler and The X Factor the dominant would they be happy pushing Strictly later? No. If Emmerdale didn't dent EastEnders and was solely dented by it would ITV create so many clashes? No.

Regarding 2010, both shows hit their highest ratings when they, for the most part, avoided one another (Strictly tended to be over by 8pm and generally The X Factor didn't start until 8pm - though there were exceptions). Admittedly the atrocious weather helped both; maybe ITV especially will be hoping for a terrible winter this time around!

Logged on at last! My DS account has been playing about for a few day now. The main page is all buggered up.

Other than trying to damage EE, is there more of a reason. Is it catching up on episodes they will lose in the rugby ?

Depending on what BBC1 put up against DA, I hoping it could do better than last year given the trailer on Youtube is near 1.2m views in just 5 days. Last year it only got too this point after 3 weeks.

Those of you who think SCD is all perfect. Trust me its not. I did learn a few things whilst working with some of the costume guys of Cuffs. This perfect BBC1 show is manipulated, but much more subtly.

Neither would the BBC brigade if SCD was a lot closer to TXF. No that its likely to be anyway.

Sorry, not likely to be getting tickets. My reply was a failed joke about your post referring to Strictly's 'shoe' tickets - via a typo, of course.

Those ads were the cause of all the problems loading pages and I always make sure I have sound off when coming into DS because of them.

But the site owners do seem to have tackled the issue after about 20 threads pointing out that people were quitting the site until it got resolved. Threads that all died to be hastily replaced by another one unaware of the previous 19. It must have become apparent eventually that there were major problems.

My reply was a joke so between the two of us we had 2 lead balloons as jokes.
