That was quite noticeable over the last couple of days, where some were hoping for a much lower figure were left disappointed so felt the need to just slag it off and big up SCD.

No other show on TV can generate so much chat and arguments.

I don't think anyone should be worrying about Martin - it always returns well.

I know it dropped a bit in week two in 2013, but that was only because they didn't do a great job with the first episode that year. From what I've read, the writers have done a better job this time.

Excluding +1, it 'only' got 5.46m. Still a phenomenal rating for a Channel 4 drama though.”

Humans has been one of the ratings stories if the year. A drama on Channel 4 rating extremely well after years I'm the doldrums. Managed to outdo Indian Summers which was on in the Winter and overnight ratings held up.

Yeah but the fact ITV have not bothered this year and only the soaps have been over 4m will have its affect on DM.

As I said, people said X Factor would drop more in hope than expectation.

Chat and arguments are like trending on Twitter. Doesn't mean ratings.

Doc Martin will do well because competition is minimal, it skews old and that is a large audience of people and it appeals to younger viewers too.

It is one of those dramas that nearly the whole family can watch probably from teenagers up

XF consolidated ratings for first two eps 2015/2014/2013 are

Ep 1 9.61m/10.67m/10.47m
Ep2 8.09m/9.53m/11.19m

So thats is 1m & 1.4m down yoy.

The real problem for them is that last year the auditions did quite well and were up yoy before the rest of the series struggled so they need to hope that does not happen again. Have they changed the lives in any way?

Well they've cut them by three episodes. Otherwise nothing else has been said about the lives.

They have changed Boot Camp and Judges Houses especially so that's where they'll hope the show holds up and the changes for the latter will offer some momentum heading into the lives. Will the scheduling help or hinder? It will be away from the Strictly performances but the shows are film-like in length.

The Sunday night shows wont be away from SCD will they?

EDIT: I see now you mean the performance shows.

Yes, sorry I didn't make it clear before.

I'm interested to see how the BBC will react to the feature length X Factor episodes considering they'll - unusually - have the jump on Strictly. Will the move the results to 6.20pm or trust the gap between the two shows and leave them where they are?

Would have thought they will at least have to start SCD at the same time - no point in giving XF a start.

I wonder if they'll extend the results show to an hour? Not sure if they have enough material to do so but it'd make it easier for them - otherwise they might have an awkward twenty minutes to fill somewhere.

EDIT: Or they could move Strictly back to 6.20pm with the understanding that Countryfile and Antiques Roadshow are more than strong enough to take on The X Factor, as seen yesterday. Though Strictly might not hit it's previous highs there.

The American housemates in CBB are so annoying, no wonder the series is struggling.

XF got 6.6m (29%), I don't think it 'not doing as badly as people expected' is an issue. DS's headline about it having 'a much better second Sunday' is overstating things a tad, it's up on last week (mostly by default, of it not being the BH weekend) but not a good figure in itself, but then Earnes is very pro ITV.

What a wierd selection of categories. It seems like they have just made up some categories for specific shows to win.

The Best Daytime show = Jeremy Kyle ?

Just what are the channels showing these days to warrant that as a win.

This is a viewer voted award, and it shows because much of the award winners skew young. I don't think JK should get it (5th time in a row), but there you go.

Also glad to see Corrie didn't win best soap, Emmerdale deserved it more I feel but well done EE anyway.
