Hello Campers down to 400,000 and a 5.9 share (inc +1) yesterday. Another disastrous daytime commission from ITV.
I managed five minutes of this show the other day. It featured annoying couples pretending to weightlift in the dark.

I have no idea who or why anyone would find that interesting?

Channel 5 don't need to reinvent the wheel. People want the highlights. Doesn't need am audience, something which several recent sports programmes don't understand. They can tweak the format, it'll be sorted sooner rather than later.
I have just watched a bit of this and it was poor. I wonder what all those who complained about the BBC coverage think now? They will have to tweak it and quick. As you say though those that want the highlights will still watch.

And ITV will not increase their share if they keep these flops in the schedule. It really a whopping failure. And there is another 4 weeks to go.

BBC1 are walking away with daytime.

Channel 5's new football show has received a negative reaction in the thread here.

It seems it is yet another show with a pointless audience stood in the background, occasionally being asked for opinions that nobody cared about.

It is always a tough act establishing something after it has been snatched from the BBC. Channel 5 now in the same position ITV has been in at various times. Plus of course everyone hates the obligatory ad breaks before they even start.

Didn't realise I posted so much. Should avoid getting drawn into repetitive debates from now on .

I think Football League Tonight needs a few weeks to grow into that slot. Some people won't be aware of the move to C5 or the timeslot so interesting to see how the ratings change over the first few weeks.

The 83 and 84 figures would be fantastic ratings for today, with shows getting over 5 million and Dynasty getting 8 million. But it does show how things have changed, not with regard to multi channel tv but with just what rubbish is churned out now.

Just watched a bit on catch up. Very messy show. Think it will evolve a lot in the coming weeks.
Why bother with an audience. I don't like Sky's offering on a Saturday either.
Waste of time having them there.

No audience for SNF last night.

Perhaps there's only one studio large enough to take an audience at Sky and C5 bagged it?

Really ? There used to be though, right ?
I watched last night and thinking about it I didn't notice anyone though I do tend to switch just before the game starts. Not keen on pre match chit chat on any channel.

Agreed. The BBC show was tucked away very late but it was tremendously business-like and just basically got on with it. There is so much action to get through that you cant do anything else. Channel 5 is immediately saddled with adverts so it cant afford to mess around, and in the bit I saw it did. Its hard enough having an audience sitting down but having them stand (inevitably awkwardly) mixed in with the presenters just didn't work. Trying for bits and bob comments most of the time will fall flat. They have tried to be a bit different, but its the action that counts and they need to make it flow as much as possible.

No they ditched it as did BBC with the Wimbledon highlights. It makes you wonder why C5 ever considered it. How long before they ditch it? We could have raffle.

Steve Williams on Twitter (via the Broadcast app):

The Football League Show: 580k (exc +1)

Match of The Day: 3.35m

Keep it in The Family: 2.59m (exc HD and +1)
The Cube: 2.12m (exc HD and +1)

Looks pretty poor for The Football League Show. Keep it in The Family will probably be around 3m with HD and +1, which isn't actually any worse than it was getting on Sundays last November.

Saturday Night Football comes from the same studio as last season. The only difference is they don't have an audience in it anymore. Much better.

ITV could just bang on a new episode of The Chase and it would probably rate higher than The Family, and probably a lot cheaper too.

Keep it in the Family is actually a well made and good show, think it might grow a bit once people actually see it.Bradley Walsh is the perfect host for this type of show.

Not terrible for the FLS on 5, once Autumn kicks in it could get 1m+, they just need to show the right highlights and give on screen plugs from 5pm onwards.

Just 3 more August weekends to go then ratings will surely start to climb again....

How'd much did the Football League Show used to get at Midnight on BBC1?

Bear in mind last night's edition had about as weak competition as it ever will, wait until it starts going head to head with Strictly, The X Factor etc.

Oh that's disappointing for the FLS, that is quite a lot lower than I had hoped for. Hopefully there was a hefty +1, though I doubt it was more than about 60k.

It isn't called the Football League Show but never mind. I seem to recall it was getting 800,000 or more on BBC1 and that was a much later time slot so not a particularly good start.
