Pop open a bottle - Danny Cohen has resigned! All I want from the new director is for them to bring back BBC3 properly and scrap The Voice...

Bit strange to quote the footie figure without the hd figure though ? As the actual real figure was 4millon. It's not like the hd only figure didn't add much it did.

Not really sure what the new person would do, Could change BBC2 into having more young adult programmes. Who knows?

Only by driving away the existing audience and reducing ratings though and therein lies the problem.

Yeah, I wish the Broadcast app included ITV HD as standard. You'd think it would. But those are the figures Broadcast subscribers see every morning. The app doesn't even mention or make clear the fact that HD is excluded either.

Still, you could estimate from the SD only figure what the Total Audience would roughly be, and that's why I posted it. England games at this level normally get 5m minimum so that one was on the low side but it was a bit of a nothing game with qualification secured some time ago and key players rested.

Kevin O'Sullivan said it had the atmosphere of a mid table League Two match, which seemed a bit harsh on L2.

Why have ITV2 given Joey Essex another Educating episode? The last few have done poorly.

Piers Morgan has been brought in to Kill off GMB I see. Surely the celining ratings for Life Stories has to tell them something? Can they not see his unpopularity?

We already know the ITV Breakfast team are deluded, from loads of their previous decisions, so hiring Piers isn't surprising.

Why scrap the top vocal talent show, TVUK gets more viewers than XF?

Most people don't want to pay their licence fee for something which is done much more impactfully and better-produced on other channels, and is from a very divisive genre. They can sell it to ITV for all I care.
And I doubt XF will get less than 6.3m for its final.

Ratings fall even lower so ITV have the perfect excuse to kill off GMB and they blame Piers. The audience fell during his previous stint.

Hmmm, I don't know about speaking for 'most' people when it's still one of the most successful shows on TV (OK, not XF highs, but capable of pulling over 10m at times) People must enjoy it, I know I certainly do (Much more than XF)

However, although XF has fallen, it is much more consistent that TV UK and therefore I'd say they'really pretty level in their current stature

The audience didn't fall, or rise, it stayed the same.

Mainly because 5 days was never long enough to make a significant impact.

Anyway, I'm looking towards Piers, he works strangely well with Susanna.

Well ITV bid more for TVUK, and makers went to the BBC who were more inspired, so clearly the BBC added value. I suppose people who think this also think the BBC should have never made The Generation Game as it was purchased from a Dutch idea.

Overall TVUK rated better than XF has this year, let's see how low the XF final is, maybe you like Simon will think it will be higher then it is.

It is ever so slightly below the Voice because it doesn't have a gimmick which briefly captures imagination like the spinning chairs do. The live shows will pull well ahead of what the Voice managed in its equivalent stages. Only a few weeks to see who's right.

Well that's the curiosity here-ITV effectively own The Voice. With Cohen leaving and the BBC under pressure from Charter renewal- and ITV making the choices- personally I think there is only a very slim chance that TVUK will be back on the BBC after next year.

Who else suspects Cohen is a sacrificial lamb leading up to Charter Renewal after the celebrity BBC endorsement a few months back?

If you're in any doubt just watch the last Commons Select meeting where the D-G got an absolute pasting on the subject...

Bland game, bland rating, bland qualification series- which tells us nothing about Englands chances. The irony is ITV have four cracking looking pre tournament friendlies to follow November through March.

Was X Factor not originally scheduled to start at 7:30 in the "here's our list of start times" memo in August? Defeats the purpose now...

Yes. I think 10.20/10.30pm is better for Ross, though. They shouldn't be settling for a 2m show at 9.50pm/10pm on a Saturday night in late October.

Not really sure if any slot is good for Ross apart from Friday nights as a alternative to Graham Norton, Even then Graham Norton does a better job.
