Except they aren't, this year there has not - at least so far - been any discernible increase in DW's timeshifts to compensate for another drop in overnights. And there's always a question mark hanging over DW's timeshifts anyway, with regards how many of the supposed 'catch-up viewers' aren't just overnight viewers watching again to try and spot Easter eggs anyway, more so than probably any other show.

A peak audience of 10.6million tuned in for last nights @bbcstrictly on @BBCOne

That's brilliant for Strictly, up 500k on last year.”

Fantastic. Again. Super. Wonderful. Most enjoyable show of this series too, so the series high rating (?) has timed itself perfectly.

It will make no difference in the overall scheme of things - infact it may even help.

It started three minutes late so I guess the timechecked figure is going to be even worse.

So it will be a bit lower than that as DW started late and that'll include the end of SCD.

The time shifts have actually dropped on average this series so far. From about 2.02m to 1.89m as the moment.

That's actually not too bad, considering the teams involved and the way the match panned out.

Brilliant for Strictly. To be up year on year is fantastic. I know the competition was easy (I dread to think how low the Spectre puff piece was) but you can't force people to watch something. It will make it even more difficult competition for XF tonight too. It will be interesting to see how XF copes with the transition back to Saturday next week. Based on how well Strictly is doing its probably wise that they shifted back to 8pm!

Better for Doctor Who but to be down year on year with much easier competition and Strictly on the up isn't great really. Nonetheless in and of itself it isn't a bad rating.

Yes, that's a brilliant rating and expect that to remain or even increase as we approach Halloween. Somehow Strictly is at its best and warmest now with a crowd of contenders still left and maybe the interest dies a bit when there are only a few left. The competition side and who wins aren't that important here. Mind you, you could argue that with The Voice and maybe even X Factor too these days.

Being reported elsewhere that the actual figure for DW is 4.63m.

That would fall in with the figure which Casualty received. Last week there was a few hundred thousand between DW and Casualty

Excellent figure for Strictly - granted there was no competition but its nice to see it up y-o-y.

I wasn't sure this series of strictly would catch fire as much as it has. On paper the line-up is very bland, but they are a brilliant group of contestants and strictly fever seems to be gripping the nation once again.

You have to wonder whether Ross show is worth it. Huge fall from his appointment to view Friday night days on BBC1.
Not too bad for the Rugby-to all intents and purposes it was the equivalent of watching Barcelona last night so there would be an interest beyond normal I guess. Arguably expected a few more for Wales.

So Strictly is up around 500k from last year and Doctor Who is down around 300k from last years fifth episode.

Time Heist in 2014 had an overnight of 4.93 million 23.8%

It still can't get close to 5m even with only 4m watching ITV? Gaaaaaaaaah. At the risk of sounding like HODV w/r Stuart Blackburn, something has to happen to turn this ship around before the damage is terminal. As of this year Moffat's been at the helm for as long as RTD was, I'm sure nobody would mind if he were to quietly step aside...

When will ITV realise Ross' elongated 15 minutes is finally up? As predicted the Spectre show was mostly all about him and ancient Bond clips rather than the new movie. After the wretched Pinewood show earlier this year it seems viewers realised this would be the same and stayed away.

It could be time for a change but its has been damaged by the last 2 years scheduling more than anything else IMO.

I haven't checked but I'd guess that even with sub-2m as an overall figure his demos still mean he's more attractive to advertisers than a lot of ITV shows. Although having said that, the prestige of guests he's pulling in isn't what it was.
