It would be interesting to hear Moffat's comments given that before this series started he was crowing about who DW was the show that bucked the trend and kept its viewers year on year. “10 years on, our ratings are pretty much the same. Actually, internationally, bigger. No show does that! You’re meant to go down!”

Eastenders fans also watch the episode s again.

It's all very well having stellar international audiences, but if the show is stripped down to a dwindling hardcore fanbase, and seemingly next-to-no casual audience, in the country that produces it ... As I said last night, I wonder how long before the BBC have no choice but to ship it off to be funded by the Americans.

You can say that for any programme. Doctor Who certainly has less repeat viewers in timeshift because that's down slightly on last year.

Not too bad for the Rugby-to all intents and purposes it was the equivalent of watching Barcelona last night so there would be an interest beyond normal I guess. Arguably expected a few more for Wales.”

He gets a lot of ABC1 though.

I'm guessing that'll be expunged from Who history now with fans claiming he was misquoted and The Moff never referring to it again.

Both Ross and (in previous weeks) Keyhole doing very badly, posting figures beginning with a 1. Was X Factor support more crucial than we thought?

Keyhole's fall was steeper - Ross has been struggling for a while.

Better but not brilliant, expect to add 2 million on catch up. Also quite respectable for the RUWC, as it involved two foreign teams. I know the British interest will probably end today, but it shows 4 million are still prepared to watch foreign teams and most of these will be an audience that would never watch ITV.

Maybe so, and I cant say I understand the Maths of profit for ITV, but there cant be many of anything in his rating last night.

Ross is in a bad way. To think that it had a better lead in than Graham Norton usually does, but Norton usually does 1m-1.5m and is on later, is worrying. Norton usually gets ~25% share.

I couldn't be a bigger fan of the BBC if I tried, but there's no use sticking your fingers in your ears and shouting "la la la" when a show is being abandoned by viewers.

I was saddened by the dreadful documentary Ross made for the BBC about Pinewood. I know a little of its history and importance to British cinema and here was an excellent opportunity thrown away as it turned into a programme about...Jonathan Ross. Time he went to seek fame and fortune in the US (oh, hang on)

You just have to read the Who threads to see how many immediately rewatch and yet these same folk cling to the idea that each catch-up rating represents one unique viewer! Insania!

Ross needs a permanent slot at a regular time. His show is a little like Casualty and it can be thrown around the schedules.

Perhaps give him the Friday 9pm slot for a run and see how he goes there. If he continues to post poor numbers, then it may be time to retire him.

Im no fan of JR and wouldn't mind if he did a Lenny Henry and slowly disappear from our screens. Now if he could just stop popping up on the Big Fat Quiz of the Year ............

I prefer the BBC to ITV, but there is no way I can defend some of their shows they churn out on BBC One. Prized Apart was one horror they could only show in summer and the tedious game shows based around the lottery are enough to send you to sleep, when all they need is a five minute show to reveal the result. Also Pointless on a continuous loop, dreary Holby City and many of their lifestyle shows are stuff I run a mile from and on their other channels, the naff yoof shows on BBC Three, some of the pretentions of BBC Four and BBC Two making sewing into a programme are other things I can't abide.

There isn't much room in the schedule for it so nowhere they could just place it right now. I do think it's poor form to bump a series mid run for a movie repeat, but then on the other hand it will probably rate better than Life Stories.”

What about 10.15pm Sunday after Downton and the news.

If not then should just be shown uniterupted at 9pm. ITV news struggles around 1m so no loss. A break in a film of 40 mins is a joke. If I really wanted to see the film I would record it and forward through the ads and news.

Strictly certainly knocked a bit between 6.30 and 7.00-seems people do turn up fashionably late .And a bit of a surge for the Rugby at 8.15.

Wouldn't want to start Strictly any earlier.
