So a quick look at that list, we could possibly have 3 back to back comedies on Christmas Night with Still Open All Hours, Mrs Brown and then Nan later before the news. A nice alternative to Downton on ITV.
I think the BBC should hold Sherlock back to New Years Day. I know it has been said that it is a Christmas programme, but there seems to be a lack of any big drama to start off the New Year which the BBC always like to do.
Fantastic rating for SCD. I hoenstly think due to the success of GBBO viewrs are choosing to watch BBC1 as its giving a feel good vibe. One success usualy leads to thers elsewhere. If ITV launched a new drama or entertainment show that drew audiences over 7m in overnights I honestky think everything would be doing better.

X Factor won't do anything as it doesn't get anyone apart from hardcore fans these days, In fact I can see it dropping even more because of silly twists and gimmicks.

I think the BBC should go for something like this for Christmas Eve and Boxing Day. Both line ups were pretty poor last year and this is a huge improvement. It also leaves MBB, Strictly, EastEnders, Doctor Who, Stick Man for Christmas Day.

which is rather like saying Fawlty Towers couldn't have been much good because they only made 12! Catherine Tate decides how much she does for the BBC, not the other way round. She's by and large stepped back from comedy output for the Beeb but makes occasional exceptions with the Nan programme. And my memory too was that the last Nan episodes got a good reception - though it had very odd and low key scheduling almost at the very end of the Christmas/New Year fortnight.

I agree with most about the last Nan special - it was pretty good although scheduled a bit bizarrely. Some posters like to make sweeping statements and cant seemingly accept there is always another side of the argument.

Comedy is very subjective, and because of the lack of press surrounding the Nan special, I wasn't expecting much, but I remember being very pleasantly surprised. I'm sure the BBC would have liked to have turned it into a series, so yes, presumably Tate just didn't want to go there.
She works best as a Scrooge-like anti-Xmas figure, imo.

Looks like the BBC might have reduced their commitment to the Six Nations at exactly the right time: the RWC semi-finals look increasingly likely to be a Northern Hemisphere-free zone 
The Rugby Championship is definitely where it's at right now.
I suspect ITV will be thanking their lucky stars that - at least, according to last night's figures - there's a fair amount of casual interest in New Zealand.

And just to add to my earlier post, there was a Mrs Brown's Boys at 21:35 on New Year's Day 2015 which consolidated to 9.51m (33.3%). just shy of the Christmas Day figure.
