I think that's a decent rating for X Factor last night, better than every other light entertainment show on ITV bar BGT.

Personally I would have preferred The Returned to be there, that's what Channel Four should be all about, different. No idea what The Returned got on More 4 but judging by the lack of comments in its thread compared to Series 1, I'm guessing not many.

Whether people like it it not I don't think the six chair challenge is going anywhere.

There was an opt-out in NI for Family Guy last night on BBC2, we were shown a program about people emigrating to Canada... then the Sunday Politics NI, and then FG at 10:55pm

I think you could amend that to say better than every other programme on ITV bar BGT (excluding sport)

X Factor isn't going anywhere either. Still does a job for ITV. The Sunday ratings should be higher in a few weeks when it moves to 8pm.

Mmm a bit of a reality check there for the X factor.

Stephen Tomkinson on This Morning said ITV are 'talking' about reviving Wild at Heart and whilst nothing has been agreed that he will be up for doing it.

Amanda Holden (sitting in for Holly this week) said that even though she is dead on the show they never found her body so she could come back too! Though less seriously I think.

This was still doing a good job for ITV on Sundays so I am not surprised this possibility is in the offing.

ITV even went live to the reserve where they filmed the show in Africa and they said they would welcome the cast back.

ITV were silly to axe Wild At Heart. All they needed to do was move it to another time of the year in the schedule. Will probably return down though as it has been awhile.

Was the reason for its axe not more down to cost than low ratings

Some people just don't care about HD. I have it but I rarely watch the main channel HD variants as the picture looks perfectly fine on the main channel lol.

I agree the picture is fine but when you compare it to the HD picture there is a difference. Mind you I could count on my one hand the number of times I've watched in HD - I think it's just habit and the fact the main channels are on 1-5.

Maybe it's my eyes, I can't really see the difference lol. But I admit most people can see a difference it's just not something I'm fussed over. My boyfriend goes nuts if something is recorded on the main channel instead of the HD one though.

The only time I see a big spike in numbers for ITV HD is when they are showing sport. Even for RWC ITV HD had some ratings over over 3 million, when the norm is around 1 million.

I guess it depends on the programming. Regular drama/light ent shows aren't worth it, but World Cups are.

BARB have updated w/e 11 October. Annoyingly there are no +1 ratings for ITV.

I'm the opposite. Recording programmes in HD quickly fills up my Sky+ box and like you, I don't view HD as that great a benefit, sport perhaps aside.

It must be very expensive shipping so many people out to Africa for several months a year. But the cost v revenue return is probably being looked at given they have (inevitably) failed to replace it.

Of course, as I suggested when these cost factors were cited at the time, they could have written the story so that they returned to the UK and set up a game reserve here as a tourist attraction in the Scottish highlands or Snowdonia. They could then film the animal scenes at somewhere like Chester Zoo and also employ most of the old cast in some way.

So there was always a way to cut costs and keep the series going if the price of filming in Africa (or the reluctance of the cast to film for half of each year there) were issues.

Perhaps a retro Sunday double next autumn of Wild at Heart and Cold Feet?

I was surprised they aced it in the first place, it always rated well. A comeback series would probably do reasonably at least.
