Doesn't surprise me as it was a good documentary and it proves BBC Two can get good ratings with these sorts of programmes.

To get so many people watching Bake Off, Strictly, BGT etc must be doing something right. Network television need to try and make more event TV, easier said than done of course but when it works it is huge. TV that's unimaginative and just put on to fill space in a schedule is what has viewers running to Netflix/Amazon etc.

Anna Maxwell Martin is brilliant! I'll watch anything with her in. I think The Americans only had a few thousand on ITV Encore. Less than 10,000 I think.

Oh and DS search is awful.

Or saving up series shown earlier in the year to fill the summer void.

The argument that the viewers are not around in the height of summer is blown away by something like Bake Off. The broadcasters are just simply not trying at all.

I would really like to see both BBC and ITV use August as a pilot month. Roll out some interesting programmes which could go to a full series. Sitcoms, drama or even a single episode of a LE format. Testing it out to an actual audience is always better than committee decision making. I am still surprised that Mrs Brown's Boys made it to air in this current auto correct world.

So its as if Doc Martin will be starting on the Monday 7th September according to What On TV for Next Week.

In a few weeks it'll be Doc Martin on Monday, Doctor Foster on Wednesday and Doctor Who on Saturday!

There are several doctors every weekday on BBC1 at 1345

And them!

And most of them DoLittle.

Looks quite interesting

Doctor Foster starts on Wednesday 9th Sept on BBC1 at 9pm after Bake off.
That will be interesting as Our Zoo did not do that well in the slot last year.

With a popular star, probably less regional out outs and the Bake Off lead-in I expect Doctor Foster to do better than Our Zoo.

Why have they moved Strictly 15 minutes later? Didn't really need to do that.

I think it's to completely avoid the football.

Summer this year has been very poor weatherwise. Perhaps the broadcasters were hoping this year, with no World Cup to act as a distraction, that this summer would be hot again and they could show some of the worst shows in the vault. What seems to have happened is, with regard to BBC One and ITV, their schedules have been so weak this summer people have defected to other channels rather than watching Prized Apart and KIITF out of desperation.

Could this summer be regarded as one of the worst ever for ratings. I know GBBO has arrived at the end to really liven things up, but apart from the three big soaps, it seems most shows on the two main channels have fallen below 3 million regularly. Also BB has recorded its worst season ever, even with poor weather helping it in later weeks.

ITV Changed My Life vs The Great British Bake Off could lead to some interesting headlines the next day.

Really can't see that documentary doing well at all.

It seems that the soaps may have held up better than expected during the Summer?

They are deliberately trying to hit X Factor,not a good move in long term given the scrutiny they are under from Whittingdale.

Football will be done and dusted by 7pm. No need whatsoever to avoid the post match discussion when most switch off as soon as the match finishes. Clearly an attempt to dent X Factor. As they are entitled to do if they so wish. I'd rather they didn't however.

The thing that gets to me is not the BBC engineering clashes, but those who deny that that's what they're doing, when they are quick to point out when ITV do it (not aimed at anyone in particular).
