I don't see why there is a need for these clashes they just alienate the viewers and probably the advertisers.

Some interesting commissions there from Channel 4. From the look of things we are going to have a battle of the tv chefs, with Jamie back on 4 and Nigella back for a new series on the BBC.

I wonder if they both have new books out just in time for Christmas

The Channel 4 S.A.S. programme sounds similar to Special Forces Ultimate Hell Week on BBC2 this Sunday. We're seeing more instances of channels having similair ideas.

ITV's soap clash has backfired. Serves them right. Now if this weekend clash of SCD and XF goes ahead I hope it backfires as well.

A case of special forces espionage ?

The pot of ideas must be pretty empty these days, so you can see why Broadcasters in general are returning to some older formats.

But I'm still waiting for the return of The Interceptor (Not the BBC drama but the ITV big budget Treasure Hunt, but just a hunter programme)

Soap Ratings:

Clash backfires slightly on ITV as ED is dented. Disappointing rating for ED there. Good +1 audience though.

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s1...en-by-53m.html
Emmerdale's joint lowest rating of the month. August has been its best rating month since February. The real winner of these clashes is Corrie. By 11th September, there will have been 7 extra Corrie episodes. Will they lose that many to the RWC?

EastEnders' BBC3 rating is its 4th highest this year behind 19th February double (735k/837k) and 4th August (720k). Thursday will be interesting as it clashes with the CBB Launch, both shows skew quite young.

New Tricks very close to being top show of the day. Really enjoying the final series.

Not with my croaky voice today haha.

I caught an episode over on Challenge a few months back and the fashion, the hair, the glasses. Just what were they thinking.

It was a great idea, but using a helicopter now would be too expensive. Chasing someone around on the ground with a jeep and a drone however, would work - if anyone is reading this

You say that and Channel 4 has Hunted starting in a few weeks.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjlGnECL3iY&sns=em

Brand new format, Hunted, a six part ‘real life thriller’ dramatically explores the scale of Britain’s surveillance state’s all-seeing eye by sending a group of ordinary Brits on the run. Can they evade capture by a team of expert hunters including an ex CIA agent, the ex-Head of the Counter Terrorist Unit and specialist digital analysts. If you had to disappear tomorrow and become a fugitive could you escape the tracks of your electronic footprint? Could you go off grid when CCTV captures us up to seventy times a day? What they do and where they go is up to them but one thing’s for certain … it’s not going to be easy.

I think that I had skimmed past that one.

But will it be cheesy enough to satisfy The Interceptor cravings

I will give it a go though, so thank you

It will be opposite Peter Kay's new BBC2 sitcom. I expect Kay will do well and Hunted will skew young.

Surely ITV would want more people to watch the main show rather than catching up due to advertisement.

Question is where does EastEnders go once BBC3 goes online.
Will they introduce a later edition on BBC1 or BBC2?
During clashes with Emmerdale and BGT EastEnders at 10 rates well.

I wish they would stop these clashes no one wins. Yes Emmerdale usually comes out on top but the show is always down overall. Surely the advertisers who ITV make there money from can't be happy ? As well as the viewers of course.

It's not doing Eastenders any favours at all it'a already struggling I'm afraid to say gway down against Corrie unfortunately
I'm starting to think it's becoming a childish tit-for-tat between BBC One and ITV with the soaps and the light entertainment shows. One does it one way so the other does it back. The viewers lose out as do the networks.

Is Fincham going to have to address the falling shares and ratings for a 2nd year in a row? Question why things like Flockstars have been commissioned?

I hope he talks about scheduling of the big new dramas later this year and next year. Plus what is going to happen in January instead of letting BBC walk all over them. This month should be the time to launch big new shows when ratings are the biggest.

I imagine factual and entertainment fails will be glanced over to talk about drama projects. But some of these channel bosses need to be scrutinized.

Who Doing The Dishes? is now the next flop to split up The Chase and Tipping Point once Hello Campers finishes.

BT Sport Showcase will air their first free Champions League match tonight. The problem:

The channel is only available on Freeview so those who watch TV via Sky/Virgin/Freesat who don't have an aerial won't be able to watch any of the free games as BT are punishing those viewers by not unencrypting BT Sport Europe. Don't know how many viewers this will affect.

Schedules aren't confirmed till tomorrow, let's not rush to judgement.
The Strictly launch show is confirmed for a 7.15pm start on Saturday 5th September.

No doubt he will be blowing his own trumpet about reviving Cold Feet. His last big idea was Daybreak but we don't hear about that these days.

Exactly people may watch Emmerdale via catch up but without adverts so itv are loosing out. Surely if this keeps happening more frequently which it seems to be one or two episodes a week can be down by nearly a million the advertisers will not be happy and it could mean lost revenue it's seems ridiculous thing to do ??? When it doesn't really need to happen. Why does Emmerdale need 7 episodes anyway ?

If there going to show an extra episode of corrie on a Thursday show it at 8.30, with Emmerdale at the normal 7 and 8 and put the awful flockstars on at 7.30 it's dying in the ratings anyway.

I doubt the bbc will show a repeat of eastenders anywhere once bbc3 closes they just presume that everyone can access iplayer. They got rid of the omnibus when knowing bbc3 would more than likely close
