Ha Ha - I have edited it now.

Although thinking about it I may as well agree with myself - because nobody else does !!!

If it wasn't for the fact it isn't a 'family friendly' time I'd say the BBC should do just that - just for the reaction.

I think ITV's protestations could become very entertaining; I can't wait to hear their reasoning behind why the Sunday clashes are not their fault despite Strictly airing at 7.20pm on that night since goodness knows when.

I think ITV are taking a bit of a risk with those FIVE consecutive weeks of Boot Camp/6 Chair Challenge. People are going to get bored of that eventually. Although, I guess there's not much else they could've done really.

Remember in the early years of Strictly and X Factor, they both had their main show and results show on Saturday night. Strictly had their results after 9pm.

Can you image if provisional schedules BBC1 put Strictly at 9pm on Sunday to avoid two hours of The X Factor?

Funny though it would be it'd be cutting off their nose to spite their face. The reason they moved Strictly's results in the first place is because they understandably felt it was on too late on a Saturday night for the younger audience.

Though it does leave a slight issue for the BBC. Do they leave Strictly where it is and give The X Factor a twenty minute head start or move it? Trying to overlap with The X Factor may just result in timing issues so it might be a case of allowing the head start or swapping it with Countryfile.

Strictly will start their results show like they usually do. It won't be going before 7pm. But putting that 9pm time in the provisional schedules and saying "ITV published the times and we scheduled accordingly" would be quite funny.

And cutting back on live shows in the process. Wasn't expecting that.

Though ITV might be happier with that than against The X Factor. Downton is in it's last series so maybe they wouldn't be quite so concerned about it as they would be if they wanted more shows out of it. They'd be surprised but out of the two options I think they'd take Strictly v Downton.

29 August - 8pm - 9.30pm

27 September Country House Boot Camp 2/2 - 7pm - 9pm
04 October 6 chair challenge 1/3 - 7pm - 9pm
11 October 6 chair challenge 2/3 - 7pm - 9pm
18 October 6 chair challenge 3/3 - 7pm - 9pm

24 October Judges Houses live 1/2 - 7.30pm - 10pm
25 October Judges Houses live 2/2 - 7.30pm - 9pm

The X Factor goes live...

31 October - 8pm
01 November - 8pm
07 November - 8pm
08 November - 8pm
14 November - 8pm
15 November - 8pm
21 November - 8pm
22 November - 8pm
28 November - 8pm
29 November - 8pm
05 December - 8pm
06 December - 8pm
12 December - 8pm
13 December - 8pm

So basically this is a release so it can run across Strictly's "usual" time (see the two hour Sunday shows and 24th October) then whine 'don't say we didn't tell you'.

Cue the BBC releasing EastEnders' usual weekly schedule for ITV.

Spoiler
Monday 8pm
Tuesday 7.30pm
Thursday 7.30pm
Friday 8pm
”

So there are 6 consecutive Sundays where the Strictly results show will be engulfed by X-Factor. With them being consecutive Sundays there is potential for them to run Strictly at 9pm with an 8pm drama. A drama which would probably do better than airing against Downton anyway. Countryfile at 7pm would still be a big start to primetime and provide a decent lead-in to the 8pm show. I don't know if the BBC have anything suitable for the 8pm slot ready to go though.

Otherwise just leave Strictly as it is because moving it to 6:20pm would hurt it more than an X-Factor clash.

Definitely. I suspect they'll do the chair challenge like the US version with it being 6 hours, where it was done a bit like a live show. Each act had a VT (shorter than the ones in the live shows, probably only 30 secs or so) and it was aired more in real time. It worked quite well actually, although I agree 3 weeks is a stretch.

Interesting move releasing all the dates. I highly doubt it'll affect what the BBC do but it was a good PR move I think as Fincham has had the press eating out of his hands. I daresay part of the reason for doing it is all those Sunday clashes that they've set up. Quite a smart move publicity wise, although I doubt they'll see any tangible benefits.

This week's sweet treats cooked up in #GBBO attracted 9.6m/43% to BBC1 at 9pm @PaulHollywood @LoveProdHouse http://www.overnights.tv

Down a little on last week but still a fantastic rating! Should timeshift to 11m.

Agree.

So where do they expect the BBC to move the SCD results show, normally on Sunday's at 7.15 pm? for years now, should the BBC put up the test card for Simon Cowell?

Where can that results show go many children love it and it's before a school day.

And do they *expect the BBC to start the live SCD shows at 6 pm to be finished for 8 pm? On the two hour live shows.

Finally a good gesture by ITV would be to stop the Emerdale clash with Eastenders. They want their cake and to eat it.*

This " bring open" is more like " bully boy" this is the times of the X Factor juggernaut and the BBC must not show SCD at these times, even though SCD bests the ailing XF most of the time. ITV are trying to look friendly, but actually clearly are very worried re the XFs ratings decline and not confident the changes will work, do need the BBC to move SCD.

It's designed to get the Daily Fail on a rant and make the BBC look bad, but it's double standards.

It's also very obviously designed to feed into the Tories' line of 'should the BBC compete with commercial broadcasters?' - a totally specious argument that doesn't withstand any scrutiny.

If ITV was confident about TXF, they wouldn't bother trying this.

Isn't Fincham being a bit German placing his towels on the sun loungers and not expecting anyone to move them?

Maybe Fincham sees himself as Putin the schedules for X-Factor being the equivalent of parking his tanks on the lawn outside the BBC?

I think this releasing the schedules early is partly to do with Rugby affecting the schedule and to show the BBC their plan before we go through this scheduling foray each week.

However they cannot expect the BBC not to put SCD in its usual slot on Sunday. In the end its bound to clash with TXF.

I think what's more of a priory for ITV though is to find another LE hit that will eventually replace TXF. It won't last forever, and when it starts dropping to below 6m on a regularly basis it might be too expensive to keep going.

It should timeshift to near 12m. Still a fantastic number, I thought there would be a little drop, but it could bounce back over 10m next week with the kids going back to school.

Do ITV also expect the BBC not to schedule Strictly later as consideration should surely be given to ITV +1 as well ?

Quite frankly it's a stupid decision by ITV trying to force the BBC to do what they want. Perhaps if ITV would want a clear run for TXF then the BBC should schedule Strictly for Sunday at 9pm - oh wait that would destroy the ratings of Downton.

I think the BBC should schedule any of their programmes where the viewers of those programmes should expect to see them.

Time for the BBC to stick to their guns after all, ITV are not the only commercial broadcaster in this country.
