This has been said a few times over the last couple of years. The show should be rested, its just singers and its path is too well worn now-it doesn't have the chair gimmick which is sustaining TVUK and BGT is streets ahead because it has the variety that XF doesn't.
Simply dreadful figure for Cowell there, even if its bank holiday weekend. I was expecting it to near enough match Saturday in the prime Sunday slot but that's a real bone shaker. Scratched heads at ITV and TVUK looking ever more likely to switch sides-even accepting XF continuing.

BLIMEY! Nobody could have predicted this kind of slump with all the changes.

Actually I think the problem is it did feel very different; Saturday especially. But at the same time they where not committed to the alterations either so it came across as a strange hybrid which no one could get to grips with. Yesterday was improvement but the ridiculous over-production was still present. They've lost the show's identity which, after the last few years isn't necessarily a bad thing, but the new identity is sorely lacking.

Grimshaw seems to rub people up the wrong way and Rita Ora wasn't a great replacement for Mel B who brought a bit of controversy to the show and had some forthright opinions. Dermot is also missed. The show just seems a lot more fake than usual and this new idea that acts can have videos, backing dancers and singers and a full production just makes it seem even more fake than usual.

That is a diabolical rating. It's going to get beaten by Countryfile come the autumn, let alone Strictly. Two episodes in and it's fallen that low. Cripes. Panic stations for Simon right now.

If they'd be doing a final all star panel then Dannii needs to be included, preferably over Sharon.

If it's any consolation for TXF fans, whilst the former might be dying CBB is already dead: posting a pathetic 1.03m (5.1%) for last night's episode at 9pm, worse than a lot of episodes of BB in the summer.

Expected though. Is that with +1? The ratings should be back up tonight. As we can see Bank Holiday weekend kills any show that has a remotely large young demo.

Why would she move from a show that is still successful (The X Factor Australia) to one in it's death throes? That is I'm assuming the Down Under version is doing relatively well.

I'd say the better bet is to bring back Sharon and Louis and say goodbye with the original panel.

The fall for The X Factor is stunning really; in chasing new audience it's lost those they already had.

Maybe the lesson here is for XF to put in more effort (I still call this 'revamp' fairly lazy) and Casualty to put in that effort all the time as I believe they are currently anniversary episodes.

CBB has just been flogged to death. Two series a year is too much.

The thing with Dancing on Ice was that it was up against very strong competition in its later years which accelerated its decline - Call the Midwife, Sherlock and Countryfile to name three - two of which were rating above 7m.

The X Factor hasn't had tough competition. Casualty shouldn't be classed as tough competition. However, it seemingly now is competition. You can't use the "oh, but the youngsters were out last night" excuse when you're struggling that badly, that's not an acceptable excuse in my opinion.

With The X Factor supposedly having multiple two hour shows on Sunday's soon to compensate for the Rugby World Cup, someone at ITV must be looking to have them re-edited into smaller episodes. Remove all the bloated-ness and air what you need to. There's no way any of them will air good if they air in their current form.

I would bring Dermot back too but the damage may have already been done by then. I expect we will be getting a lot of media stories leaked of shenanigans at Bootcamp etc to try and maintain interest in the show.

Talk about confident! Then again every stage of XF is different, you never know how things could end up turning out.
