And where is Jekyll & Hyde going to squeeze into all this? Surely Saturday is the best day for it, what with Downton on Sunday and Doc Martin in Monday.

16:00: World Cup Semi Final 18:30: X Factor Live 20:30: Jekyll and Hyde 21:30: Jonathan Ross? Interestingly, if does end up there it follows the 2007 Steven Moffat BBC reboot which also aired on a Saturday but it depends on the tone of the new jekyll in how late its going (could also be swapped with XF if its family friendly enough, the Rugby could help it more than it'd help XF tbh) It would have to have a double episode or the finale on Boxing Day for this one to work however |

PEDANTRY ALERT: Plaza Patrol was actually on Mondays, the appalling ITV sitcom on Fridays at seven in the summer of 1991 was actually Very Big Very Soon, starring Paul Shane as a crap talent agent. It was very strange to see those Little and Large repeats in that summer, though, as you say (although they did in previous years sometimes stick a few repeats at the end of a series to fill a gap).
Quote:
I've said this before but I remember reading in Fast Forward in 1990 that Little and Large had been axed, and then a few weeks later they reported it had been reprieved. I was eleven when the last series went out but even at that age I could tell they'd had a massive budget cut, I remember it didn't have any opening titles and the set was tiny. It was a bit of a bonfire of variety acts in 1991 because Russ Abbot and Les Dennis also had their last series that year. Russ was the first act I knew was going down the dumper because his final series was moved from Saturday to Friday which in those days was a massive demotion. And then there was another big cull in 1994 when they axed Jim'll Fix It, The Paul Daniels Magic Show and That's Life.
Yes, Russ's final series was much weaker than the previous runs had been. Wasn't it also the longest, with 12 programmes?Quote:
There were two series of Haggard, of course, but the second was presumably on the shelf for ages because it wasn't shown until the summer of 1992, two and a half years after the first one, very early on Saturday teatimes and then by the end of the run it was at the mercy of the individual regions, many of whom shoved the last episode or two out on Sunday afternoons.
They did a lot of that. I started watching Shelley in summer 1992, and those new episodes had 1990 on the end credits.

Dave's new US sitcom Last Man on Earth launched to 0.17m (0.9%) at 9pm, climbing to 0.21m (1.1%) at 9:30pm. The latter was the channel's most watched programme in peak.
No sign of Suits in the top 3. I wonder what happened to that show? I'm pretty sure it was a hit for them when it first launched, but seems to have gone the wrong way with less than 0.15m tuning in for the Series 5 opener at 10pm. |

The Last Man show unfortunately runs out of steam and jokes as it progresses. It felt like a film idea that was stretched too far.
Unfortunately, they haven't been rewarded in the ratings. Back to panel show repeats before long no doubt. |

What has made ITV swap rpt's of Vera for Foyle's War on Wednesday? The latter rates about half of the former with under 2m viewers.
And another scheduling cock-up. ITV have scheduled their new 2 part school series - School Swap - The Class Divide opposite BBC2 series 'Are out KIds Tough Enough? Chinese School' at 9pm on Tuesday. Another case of poor planning. With all the slots filled with rpt's and its ends up directly next to another school set series. |

Again Emmerdale deserves to be top soap, its beaten EastEnders, Corrie is going to be more difficult.
I imagine Travel Guides on ITV is another sub 2m rating to add to their week. Their making a real collection now. |

Mel & Sue has been axed
Source: Broadcast Another daytime failure - I imagine Hello Campers, Guess This House and Freeze Out will follow suite. Its good they are trying out many different daytime series, but its scheduling that has let them down. Mel & Sue could have worked, but 3pm would have been a better slot. But it seems they really are not that popular. |

I think Partners in Crime is dropping because really, it isn't anything special, its not that good really is it? Well that's my opinion anyway. Its like ITV's Black Work - a bit meh.
4.6m still watching a rpt of Fake of Fortune? I'm sure if ITV gave BBC's line up a bit more competition it wouldn't be so easy to pull in the floating viewers. Nice to see Nature Nuts rise despite a still poor figure. Bad scheduling has given ITV another sub 2m figure. What a collection they have made this year. They've had more sub 2m figures than any other year. Its just been flop, after flop, after flop. If it wasn't for the soaps , Ch4 would surely be challenging them on weekly shares. Can the bosses at ITV not see how much of a mess 2015 has been, even worse that 2014. I have news to shake you to your core H Of De VI according to the new Radio Times the BBC are doing a sequal to The White Queen called the White Princess ![]()

The terrible ratings reflected that The only surprising part was that someone at ITV commissioned it in the first place and thought it could work. |

The soaps seem stable again with decent ratings, although Eastenders does seem to drop to a similar level for it's Monday and Friday showings. Perhaps 8pm just isn't a fit for the show. A reduction in the number of episodes would work wonders for the quality but it would be seen as an admission that the show isn't working - which it is. We know how the reaction would be viewed. It would be interesting to see two hour long editions of Eastenders on Tuesdays and Thursdays with something different in the Monday and Friday 8pm slots. |

Well Freeze Out is only a 10 episode pilot series, so if it doesn't get picked up for a full series I'm not sure it's strictly true to say it's been "axed" - the tabloids will though.
There's probably a half decent quiz show in there somewhere if it was tweaked but viewers don't give anything a second chance these days so there is little point tweaking it, in fact I expect most didn't even give it a first chance and just watched Pointless instead. Doing something to generate a number of points which a question is then worth, is no different to many other quiz shows. Wheel of Fortune, Bullseye etc. |
