Why do ITV keep commissioning programmes for the 9pm slot which quite simply don't belong there?
They've stuffed the pre-watershed slots full of soap, and they refuse to spend money after peak (i.e post News at Ten), so there are very few places for factual apart from 9pm.

Is ITV the Dodo of television? It's certainly not a dinosaur as it took a meteorite to kill them off, Idiocy is more ITV's problem.

Dinosaur Britain is a perfect 7/8pm factual however its unable to put it there as the schedule is full of soap. I mean come on Fincham it was never going to work, pull your head out of your arse and take some difficult decisions!

They have become a one slot broadcaster. I watch neither of their soaps so there is no point me tuning in before 9, or after the news. Some would also say their news isnt worth watching but I disagree.

I wonder what the schedulers do all day. "Oh I wonder when I will put this new factual, errrrrm, How about 9??, Hmm not sure maybe I'll put it at 9pm instead. Yes that's much better....."

Dead channel, I'm angry.

A bit more respectable in general last night except for ITV 9pm, if that was low, I can be sure that the flopzone tonight could be lower. CBB is up to the highest since it's launch, but hope it can climb a bit more, but I'm sure that it won't go any higher. Ch4 did quite well too with The Catch, but there is no +1 rating yet.

Thanks Salv and Lewie!

I think The Edinburgh Military Tattoo rating is the rating of the night for me!

Via Broadcast: The 2015 MTV Video Music Awards posted an overnight audience of 91,000 (0.4%) on Sunday, peaking with 165,000 (0.8%). This was down on the 112k (0.5%) that watched the 2014 show.

Well there you go, I was proved right. 1.59m for CBB is a much better rating. I knew it would be nearer 2m last night because the competition was weaker and the media coverage has stepped up in recent days I think so there was more public intrigue.

Channel 5 will be pleased with that rating and it's something to build on with the live show tonight. It's currently billed as an eviction but after Tila's early ejection I don't know if it will remain that way, especially as Natasha revealed on Live Feed last night that the housemates haven't nominated yet. It's possibly going to be some sort of 'live twist' but I would anticipate the rating to stay about the same, hovering around the 1.5m mark for now.

I definitely think we will see the CBB ratings rise tomorrow night if not tonight. This is a show that has been damaged in the ratings by the bank holiday weekend even more than most, but because it is a great series so far, it should pick up viewers.

I respectfully disagree with Neil_VW's comment that "CBB won't trouble 2m again this Summer". I firmly believe that we will see a significant boost this week and by the weekend CBB will be nearer 2m than 1m.
I really hope you're right. It's a great series so far so it should be doing better, but I don't think it will go over 1.5m throughout the run, maybe I'm being pessimistic. Or maybe as we go into the school term start, it will pick up. Lets hope.

They need to promote this series whilst it's on air to try and get as much launch audience as possible.
21:00: Celebrity Big Brother - 1.43m (6.9%), +1 - 155k (1.0%)
Our wish was granted Salv*!

1.59m with +1 is the sort of rating CBB SHOULD be getting. The question is, was this a one-off or can it sustain these decent numbers?

It's the weakest 9pm opposition the show is going to face though. That was ridiculously weak for a Monday last night.

Perhaps it's not going to be the disaster it looked like it was going to be based on the weekend figures, but it's still a good bit down on what CBB should be getting. And this Saturday 10:30 episode is going to bring the average down massively and hurt momentum every single week.

EastEnders deserved more, surprised the BBC 3 episode didnt pick up viewers based on social media praising the eipsode, still the episode kinda came out of no where, you didnt know in advance the episode was going to be as good as it was. It had all the hallmarks of EE at its best.

ITV would like to say low ratings for non soaps, were down to it being Bank Hoilday but I dont think that is the case, "Britain as Seen on ITV" seems very indulgent, but not the worst rating of the night. ITV regional news seemingly benefiting from the lack of on BBC 1.

True, but the first Monday last year got 1.65m, so it's not as down as the previous days. I'd be happy with 1.6m overnights (around 1.9m officials) because it started at a low, so I don't expect it to be hitting 1.8m+.

Last year it was up against 5.8m and 3.5m (inc +1) on the two big channels though.

ITV really need to get their act together. Are they in financial trouble hence not spending cash?

I know. But I'd be OK with this staying at 1.6m level (just under 2m official), it started off at a launch low, so I expect it to average at a low.

The Saturday episode is usually the lowest-rated episode of the week because some of it is highlights of a live eviction show most fans have already seen, so even if you gave it the 9pm slot and put it up against That Puppet Game Show and Harry Hill's Stars In Their Eyes, it still wouldn't rate highly.

However, Football League Tonight is becoming a bit of an issue for Channel 5 because their ace card of CBB is being displaced in the schedules by FLT, which is rating half as well in that slot as CBB would.

Channel 5 thought they were buying a ratings-winner in the football highlights when in fact they've invested in a burden; 40 weeks of football highlights which last 90 minutes and are only watched by 400k. CBB would get a guaranteed 1m in that slot but if Channel 5 move back FLT then it would clash with MOTD which would be the final nail in the coffin, and they can't show it earlier because reports and commentaries need to be compiled.

That is very poor for Danny and the Human Zoo.
Not great but embarrassing how easily it beat ITV's offering on a Bank Holiday Monday.

1.8m for ITV's 'Dinosaur Britain' at 9pm (1.9m with +1).

Those hits just keep on coming....
Ouch, not good at all. I thought the subject matter might at least spark a bit of interest even if people then realised it wasn't very good once they were watching. It would be nice to have an updated Walking With Dinosaurs with all the knowledge and graphics technology we have gained in the 15 years since that was broadcast, but I imagine it would be very expensive to produce. The brand "Walking With Dinosaurs" is still strong too so it would need to be a quality production so as not to sully the brand.

Yeah, with hindsight 9pm is all wrong for football highlights. They should be a post-pub affair.

FLT in my opinion should be the same sort of time as Match of the Day. So somewhere between 10:30pm-11pm, don't think it should be on at 9pm.
