Runaway Jury (2003) - Pretty good. 7/10
I really enjoyed that. Sadly that was Gene Hackman's last film.

Still haven't seen that. Especially seeing a clip of the scene with her and the sledgehammer to the ankles. I'll keep my memories of Cathy Bates in nicer roles and James Cann in the funny roles.

10 Cloverfield Lane - Kept the suspense up all the way until the end, with a surprising twist.

John Goodman was excellent as he usually is & Mary Elizabeth Winstead once again shows she's good in a leading role.

Shadow of a Doubt [1943]. Director: Alfred Hitchcock

8/10

Hitchcock's favourite of his own films. Joseph Cotton as the beloved Uncle Charlie who isn't all that he seems to his adoring teenage niece.

*******
They Flew Alone [1942]. Director: Herbert Wilcox

6/10

Anna Neagle adopts a Yorkshire accent to play heroic long distance pilot Amy Johnson (with a bit of wartime propaganda thrown in at the end).

*******
Man in the Saddle [1951]. Director: André De Toth

6/10

Familiar Western action with Alexander Knox suitably sinister as the rich rancher trying to take over neighbour Randolph Scott's land.

Inferno - Watching this made me wonder whether I was completely wrong about The Da Vinci Code film which I loved. Even the exotic locations of Florence and Istanbul are wasted.

5/10

10 Cloverfield Lane 8/10 - I already had the ending spoiled by a friend who had seen it at the cinema. But I still enjoyed it

Sisters 7/10 - Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are a great double act. Surprisingly good, funny movie.

Utter drivel written by some lefty sap with no idea about the real world.

Star Trek Beyond

Fitful space hijinx with Kirk and the gang. Not much boldly going, but enough crash, bang, wallop to make a reasonable voyage. 6/10

Saving Private Ryan

Technically impressive war fable ill-served by gloopy sentimentality. 5/10

Dolphin Tale 2 [2014]. Director: Charles Martin Smith

7/10

Enjoyable sequel about the amputee dolphin, based on real events (footage of which is in the end credits). Morgan Freeman pops in for a few scenes.

********
Alien Abduction [2014]. Director: Matty Beckerman

5/10

Another low budget, found footage, sci-fi horror movie. The film makers must have read that autistic kids benefit from using camcorders, so use that as an excuse for the kid in the movie to keep videoing the aliens when maybe he should have been running away.

*******
The Skeleton Twins [2014]. Director: Craig Johnson

7/10

Quirky comedy drama. A woman's attempted suicide is interrupted by a phone call telling her that her estranged brother is in hospital after his failed suicide bid.

Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen [2004]. Director: Sara Sugarman

5/10

Lindsay Lohan as the new girl in school with Megan Fox as the leader of the mean girls. The usual stuff.

Watched these two in the cinema last night....

Ouija: Origin of Evil

Keeping Up with the Joneses

Both quite fun if not amazing so would rate them 3 / 5.

Rocky Horror Picture Show (2016)

After a great opening number, this movie remake didn't just go downhill fast....it went into free fall. Awful.

Snowden - 8.5/10

Obviously this is the story of Edward Snowden, showing how he came to be in the job he had, what he did before he 2013 and what happened afterwards. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Snowden superbly, not just looking but sounding like him too. The rest of the cast are equally as good.

I enjoyed this very much, having seen Citizenfour I was interested to see how cinema would portray Snowden. It did so very well.

Last Shift 8/10. Don't be mislead by the lowish rating (5.7) on IMDb its worth more and really is worth watching. A sort of supernatural 'Assault on Precinct 13'.
