THE INBETWEENERS MOVIE 2 - 8half/10
funny and unbelievably ruuuuuuuuuude, laughed like a drain

LOVE - 6/10
almost incomprehensible mush of different other scifi movies, with an almost shearing soundtrack to boot, but it gets there
Nickelback

G-Force [2009]. Director: Hoyt H. Yeatman Jr.

4/10

Part animated nonsense about a bunch of guinea pigs foiling a megalomaniac.

*******
The Last Keepers [2013]. Director: Maggie Greenwald

6/10

High school fantasy romance about a teenage witch.

*******
Les Cousins [1959]. Director: Claude Chabrol

8/10

Chabrol's 2nd feature has the same two leads as his first. Provincial guy comes to Paris, stays with his student cousin who enjoys wild parties with casual sex, falls in love, but then things fall apart quite tragically.

*******
Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues [2013]. Director: Adam Mckay

3/10

Another tedious Will Ferrell movie.

*******
Nebraska [2013]. Director: Alexander Payne

8/10

Enjoyable road movie with a standout performance by Bruce Dern

Ant Man - 6.5/10
I liked it but it did feel rather goofy. Still it was fun - I didn't get to see much as my friend kept talking over the film :/

Lovelace (2013) 06/10

I expected it to be better but not completely accurate as I knew it would be given the 'Hollywood treatment'. It didn't go 'deep enough' for me and glossed over most of Linda's story.

My rating was mainly to do with the soundtrack which was authentic and groovy.

Maniac - 7.5/10

Elijah Wood plays a mannequin maker by day, serial killer by night. It is quite violent/gory, which I like. It's also unusually shot almost entirely from Elijah Wood's character's point of view.

Blue Caprice [aka The Washington Snipers][2013]. Director: Alexandre Moors

5/10

Arthouse serial killer tale, based on a true story and concentrating on a teenage West Indian lad abandoned by his mother who hitches up with an American father figure before heading to the USA to start a fairly motiveless killing spree. The killings are mostly depicted as scenes of a car driving down a highway with a few cutaways of bloodstained bodies lying on the tarmac. Tarantino this ain't.

*******
Blue Jasmine [2013]. Director: Woody Allen

7/10

A tale of two sisters (both adopted), one who marries into money, the other at the opposite end of the social spectrum. Cate Blanchett won the acting honours, Sally Hawkins had to make do with supporting nominations. Neither character is particularly likeable.

The Flowers of St Francis

Rossellini's vision of St Francis in spring-fresh vignette-parable form. Difficult to believe it was once poorly thought of. I drank it in. 9/10

The Man Who Knew Too Much

Mid-to-upper table Hitch. A bigger, slicker remake of his earlier TMWKTM. Perhaps it lacks the darkness of that, but Stewart/Day make a fine pair with Hitch in full technicolour suspense/entertainment mode, and there's nowt much wrong with that. 7.5/10

Event Horizon

Mostly clumsy space-horror with the odd flash of invention. 5/10

Mockingjay part 2 9/10

Visually stunning and it works on action and storytelling balance for me anyway. ..some very poignant moments also imo..I did myself a disservice and read some reviews so went in expecting a mediocre film. It was my birthday treat to myself so caught the first screening of the day at 10am it was 3d with the dbox option..so my back was playing up and dbox from my first try was nice with tdkr..I think. .I almost forgot I was in a dbox seat as I was drawn into the story. .so it was amazing ftom start to end and very well timed..however I would have enjoyed this film without any gubbins. .

So there you go..was a brilliant end to the journey and I felt drawn into the message and emotions. .glad I didn't re read the book to be fair trying to see it from a film goers perspective. .it did not disappoint..imo of course!

Heist - fun dtv flick with daft twists galore but does what it says on the tin well 7/10

Spectre - even with lowered expectations it was pretty underwhelming, it trys to appeal to the old and new fans but just seemed a bit tired and clueless. 6/10

The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp - An old favourite of mine, but this was the first time I'd seen it on Blu-ray. Absolutely wonderful.

Last Saturday night... horror/comedy combo of The Prowler (US 1981, used to be known as Rosemary's Killer in the UK) on Blu-Ray - very much overlooked as 'just another' gory body count teen slasher movie, but IMHO genuinely creepy and suspenseful, and punctuated by some of Tom Savini's most groan-inducingly gory kills - and 'Don't Lose Your Head' on DVD - "your grace, there's a letter for you - put it in the basket, I'll read it later"
