I liked it but not much really happened. And the girls shouted way too much but that's a minor issue.

Nothing left to Fear [2013]. Director: Anthony Leonardi III

5/10

Unoriginal horror about a family from the city heading to a small town and encountering religious weirdos and demons.

*******
Five Easy Pieces [1970]. Director: Bob Rafelson

8/10

Rafelson's first non-Monkees film. Jack Nicholson brilliant as an unhappily married oil-rig worker who heads home when he hears his father is dying. Karen Black as the Tammy Wynette-obsessed waitress wife who discovers her husband is from a privileged background of classical musicians. Both were Oscar nominated.

Music in Darkness aka Night is My Future [1948]. Director: Ingmar Bergman

7/10

A blind pianist finds love.

*******
About a Boy [2002]. Directors: Chris & Paul Weitz

6/10

Hugh Grant does his usual character. Current superhero Nicholas Hoult plays the nerdy kid.

*******
The Call [2013]. Director: Brad Anderson

5/10

A good concept - following the abduction of a teenager from the point of view of the 911 call operative with whom she is in contact via cellphone. Then it gets Hollywood silly when the operative (Halle Berry) decides to step out and rescue the girl single-handed.

Bridge of Spies at the Lowry in Salford courtesy of a Sunday Times freebie - it was a great watch. Hanks, Spielberg and the Coen brothers at their best.
How you can make an over 2 hour movie about a spy exchange so interesting and absorbing is amazing to me

Valhalla Rising

Eerie, brutal viking drama with mythic overtones. Very strikingly shot by NW Refn - maybe his best? 8.5/10

Ant-Man

Entertaining enough superheroics with some interesting optical trickery. It sometimes clunks when it should click, but still a nice little side-dish from Marvel. 6.5/10

Southpaw

Sweaty, overwrought boxing pic, knocked out of the ring by trite melodrama. 5/10

The Dressmaker

Don't fooled by the title or what on the surface seems to be a chick flick, this is a really good film with bundles of Australian small town quirkiness, The setting, the revenge storyline and even the music give the film the feeling of a spaghetti western but instead of guns there are sewing machines and golf clubs

Kate Winslett is excellent in the lead role as the Clint Eastwood type character riding into town seeking revenge and there's a good supporting cast displaying a weird and wonderful assortment of characters.

Definitely worth a watch. 8/10

SPECTRE in the cinema - SEVEN AND HALF OUT OF TEN

subtitled NOT AS GOOD AS SKYFALL!!!

the score is low because it's not as well put together as skyfall, and to be honest, it felt a bit ..... FLAT!

not as much threat level as was expected, and even the originality was lacking, and for a bond movie that could be crippling ..... exception was the pre credits which is magnificent in it's size and the snowy stuff

but once again they come up with a DIFFERENT MOVIE, more drama than action adventure and not a cat-and-mouse game ..... but more akin to MOUSETRAP ..... or more precisely BONDTRAP

waltz just glides through this and the whole spectre is the mystery

it just needed to be as sharp as the previous!

skyfall was like sleeping in a tub of hagen daas, this was like eating a magnum, having to crunch through the hard crispy surface to get to the creamy centre

so for the daniel craig bonds

CASINO ROYAL (it would take something special to beat that)
SKYFALL
SPECTRE
QUANTUM OF SOLACE

please the broccolis, let ME write the 25th one ..... well, at least some of it

Rocky Horror Picture Show (at the cinema) 10/10

Preceded by interviews with Patricia Quinn, Little Nell and a video message from poor Tim Curry.

Big laugh when he made his entrance and some seated Time Warping.

Firestarter (1984) - 4/10 An insipid adaptation of a Stephen King story. Miles better than the truly dreadful Dreamcatcher (2003), though.

The Collector (1965) - 8/10 Samantha Eggar is a redhead in this, which is disconcerting because it just makes her the spitting image of my aunt. Combine this too-close-to-home aspect with Terence Stamp as her I'm-a-nice-guy kidnapper? Scary. I loved it.

One of my all-time favourite films, which is still a surprise as I can't stand Tony Curtis. It's Burt Lancaster that makes it worthwhile. And the amazing script.

As a fan of the series, I was disappointed by the film, which was really just a long 'series' episode. However, I 'll be generous and give it 5/10.

Got to agree with you. I was hoping for a really good film and got an 'ok' one. I still like Craig but found SPECTRE to be a mish mash of stories and neither one thing nor another 7/10

PS I also thought the soundtrack was the worst ever.
