Non-Stop - I like Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore, but this is just crap.

Started watching The Heat with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. Gave up after 40 minutes. Didn't enjoy it. I think Melissa is better suited to a supporting role with that sort of character.

San Andreas - 7/10 - Pretty much what a CGI laden action movie should be, perfect popcorn fun....Transformers franchise should take note.

Ant-Man - 6/10

Some moderately amusing bits towards the end, but kinda shit overall.

Carol. Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara are pretty brilliant. I did get really into it but was a bit disappointed with the ending though I suppose it did fit the story.

Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989) Hideously looking ( my eyes, my eyes ) Woody Allen. Watching this was a painful duty, i like films to look nice and have some entertainment value, preferably humorous, its as miserable as something like Lincoln, so widely lauded by many. Never again/10.

Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy. Saw it at the cinema and thought it OK but not as good as the BBC Alec Guinness version. However on seeing it again this weekend on DVD I really enjoyed it. The interview with John Le Carrier in the extras is quite interesting as well.

Watched 'Nebraska' (2012) last night, on recommendation from
one of my sons. He watched it with us. He and my wife thought
it was wonderful. I found it a slow moving pretentious load of
old tosh. Each to their own.

No it wasn't

It certainly is an odd but interesting film though.

INSIDIOUS 2 - 7/10
utter bumfluff ..... so same as the first one then

MAMA - 8half/10
much better slow boiler almost hamstrung with the ending ..... the "shock" part of it it too compressed with the "sad" part, but it sits well with the likes of ORPHAN ans THE BABADOOK

Decoding Annie Parker [2013]. Director: Steven Bernstein

6/10

Samantha Morton as a woman battling breast cancer (which had already killed her mother and sister) plus Helen Hunt as a maverick researcher determined to prove a genetic basis for the disease. The two barely meet so this seems like 2 shorter movies stuck together.

Star Wars IV - A New Hope

Watching one of each of the original trilogy each evening in the run up to Star Wars VII on Thursday. No guesses for which one I'll be watching tonight!

Did start watching it on Now TV as they have all the first 6 on there and trailers for 7, but turned it off after 10 minutes and dug out my 'despecialised' version. The one where (spoiler if you haven't seen it) Han shoots first!

Screw you George Lucas you meddling billionaire.

I Melt With You [2011]. Director: Mark Pellington

7/10

A 25th anniversary college reunion goes crazy when an old pact is activated. Unfortunately the 4 characters concerned are too unlikeable to care much about their fate but there's some fun to be had along the way.

*******
Jackass Presents Bad Grandpa [2013]. Director: Jeff Tremaine

7/10

Often hilarious road movie with a succession of daft stunts played on gullible members of the public. Awesome performance by Jackson Nicoll as the kid. How he kept a straight face I don't know.

Jeux Interdits (Forbidden Games)

Two French children make a cemetary for animals in René Clément's famous '52 wartime drama. Wonderful, resonant, moving etc, etc 9/10

The Long Good Friday

Brilliant, vivid Brit crime drama, all shifting evils and powers changing hands. Bob Hoskins tears a hole in the screen as the doomed crime lord. 9/10

Toy Story

The animation shows its age. The script, thankfully, probably never will. 8.5/10
