John Wick - 2015
Enjoyable revenge film. Uncertain whether the film suited Keanu Reeves wooden acting as the moody, monosylabyllic titular character or he actually delivers a decent acting job. I'd give it 8/10 |

The Hurricane (1999)
Not bad and worth a watch but it's not on par with some of Denzel's best like Training Day, Philadelphia and John Q |

Spotlight.. 9/10.
Definitely should win best picture. Excellent ensemble performance but notably Liev Schreiber, Mark Ruffalo and Michael Keaton. Stanley Tucci was great as well. Terrible subject matter

Kadoyng [1972]. Director: Ian Shand
3/10 Silly Sc-Fi from the Children's Film Foundation ******* The Monkey's Uncle [1965]. Director: Robert Stevenson 6/10 Actually it's a chimp but that wouldn't have made for such a catchy title. The Beach Boys appear in the opening scene as backing band to Disney starlet Annette Funicello. ******* Ain't them Bodies Saints [2013]. Director: David Lowery 7/10 Casey Affleck as an escaped convict mumbling his way across Texas to reunite with his wife and child. ******* Alexander [2004]. Director: Oliver Stone 5/10 Colin Farrell plays Alexander the Great with an Irish accent and most of the Americans in the cast feel obliged to do the same. |

The Big Short - 6/10
Okay but not as good as I was expecting given the hype. There are some strong performances (Bale and Carell) but I found elements of the the direction, editing and sound design quite annoying. |

The Last House On The Left (2009) - 2/10
Enduring the 45-50 minute snuff movie-esque sequence (which wasn't scary) at the beginning of the film proved not to be worth it. An unoriginal home invasion type film not worth bothering with. |

Jersey Boys (2014) 7/10
Not bad. For a music biopic, it tried to be a bit too deep for it's own good. At it's best when they started singing. |

Creed (2015) - 4/10
Pedestrian Nike advert where "the best pound for pound fighter in the world" had moobs! Gets an extra point as I liked the fact that the set decorator Amanda Carroll gave Rocky a retro push button tupperware lid for his kitchen. Look out for it to save your mind wandering during the film. |

Spotlight -well made, well acted, worthy and refreshingly free of oscar baiting dramatics.
Having said that I think I would have preferred to watch a documentary on the subject matter. It was just too uninvolving to hold this viewers attention 7/10 The Shawshank Redemption - a great movie but not one of the greatest movies ever made, it has a universal appeal though much like A Wonderful Life and is always worth a watch every few years. 9/10 |
