Pride and prejudice and zombies - as a huge fan of both the original Jane Austen book and the BBC adaptation of that book, and having not read this version of the book, I didn't have high hopes for this film. I saw Deadpool at the weekend and basically expected P&P&Z to be a bit meh in comparison. How wrong could I have been, it was superb. Many nods (I thought) to the BBC adaptation, enough of the Jane Austen to keep me happy, and some excellent action as well as laugh out loud moments. Matt Smith as Mr (sorry, Parson) Collins was particularly inspired. Loved it, 9/10.

The Share Out [1962]. Director: Gerard Glaister

5/10

Another Edgar Wallace mystery with familiar faces, this time including Bernard Lee (soon to be M in the Bond movies) as the cop and William Russell (soon to be one of Doctor Who's first companions) as a private investigator.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip. 8/10.

Would've been a 9 if Ian Hawke was still part of it!

Watching the Robocop remake. Saw it at cinema and thought it was OK but not a patch on the original. Watching it again on TV I'm finding it really boring.

Was really looking forward to watching this last night yet felt let down by it. Was not a huge fan of the colour either

I know. I turned it off less than half way through. It really is crap.

I LOVE the first one.

I Know Where I'm Going

Charming Powell & Pressburger romance with a dash of the mystics. A rainy afternoon marvel. 9/10

True Romance

Tarantino-scripted action/romance/thriller gamely played by all and whipped into an impossibly slick package by the late Tony Scott. A film that revels in its own trashiness, and rightly so. 8/10

I went to see How to Be Single last night. I'm not exactly surprised, but I'm so tired of wanting to see a mindless sex comedy aimed at women, only to end up watching a melancholic film about relationships and drama. I fell for it with Bridesmaids and Trainwreck. I don't know what to give it. 6.5/10 maybe.

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation 7.5/10

Good old fashioned action movie fun with minimum CGI.

Tom Cruise may not be the greatest actor that ever lived but he never falters, gives his all and always give a convincing performance, imo.

The World's End. Passed the time on a Sunday night, but it's a bit scary to think somebody thought it was worth financing as a film.

I've now watched the Blus of the original, Beneath, and Escape, and enjoyed all three. Long time since I've seen any of these films. Next up is Conquest, which I have vague memories of. I don't think I've ever actually seen Battle before, though.

I'm not keen on any of the recent films. Too over the top.

Cinderella Man [2005]. Director: Ron Howard

8/10

Enjoyable boxing movie about a washed up boxer living in poverty who makes a comeback and goes on to be world champion. Based on a true story.

*******
Pretty Woman [1990]. Director: Garry Marshall

8/10

Another Cinderella story (or rather Pygmalion/My Fair Lady).
