Splice (2009) - 5/10
One of those "scientists go too far" type movies. It looks more expensive than a B movie but it's at that level of quality. It's still worth a watch. The Incredible Hulk (2008) - 6/10 The plot's simple yet doesn't make the film feel lacking, and the final sequence is good. It pisses all over the first "Iron Man" Three Men & A Baby - 5/10 Really average. The best thing about it was finding out what Ted Danson looks like after hearing his name on The Simpsons. Killers (2010) - 6/10 Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher play a couple. One of them is an assassin (hence the name). Frankly, 6/10 is generous but Heigl and Kutcher work well together. It's a shame about the script. I'd only recommend it if you're a fan of either of the leads. Yes Man - 5/10 The most memorable moment is a sex scene involving a granny but I'm not a big fan of gross-out humour. I wasn't expecting much and didn't get much. |

Primates of the Caribbean [2012]. Director: Jan Rahbek
4/10 Charmless Danish computer animation. ******* In a World... [2013]. Director: Lake Bell 6/10 Written, directed and starring Lake Bell. A tale of rival voice over artists. The title is a tribute to the late great Don LaFontaine, the king of movie trailer voice overs, e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6vTbtKjTU0 ******* Spike Island [2012]. Director: Mat Whitecross 6/10 Whitecross, who worked with Michael Winterbottom on 24 Hour Party People, directs a film set against the backdrop of another cult Manchester band: 5 teens try to gatecrash the famous 1990 Stone Roses gig. Tim Wheeler of Ash wrote and played the original soundtrack, Coldplay (who were at university with the director) executive produced, and Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke plays the love interest. |

No country for old men 8/10- It's the first time I've seen it and I was blown away by Javier Bardem. He plays the perfect villain

'The Brasher Doubloon' (1947) 6.5/10
A rich and powerful widow asks Philip Marlowe to investigate the theft of a rare coin from her collection. However all is not as it seems ... Unfortunately Clark Gable-lookalike George Montgomery is far too urbane-looking to be convincing as Marlowe. Bring on Elliott Gould

Get Hard - Another Kevin Hart comedy. Pretty funny mainly thanks to Will Ferrell.
6/10 Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 - Unfunny sequel to a pretty poor first movie about a overweight security guard. 2/10 Boyz n the Hood - Follows a bunch of kids growing up in the tough area of South Cental LA. Really strong performances from Ice Cube, Cuba Gooding Jr and Laurence Fishburne. 8/10 Evil Dead II - Never particularly liked the first movie. I prefer this (which is effectively a remake) as it is visually more inventive. 7/10 |

Interstellar 4/10, started to nod off half way through.
The time dilation made less sense than it did in Red Dwarf. |

Minority Report 9.5/10
So much knowledge went into the making of this film and Spielberg turned that knowledge into an absolute masterpiece. The overhead shots of the spiders infiltrating the apartments is pure genius. Sadly, it's the last Spielberg film that I truly loved and I hope that there are more to come. |
