Green Street 6.5/10

One of my "guilty pleasure" films. Silly at times, no real plot to speak of and barely any character development but for some reason I enjoy it.

Loses half a point for Charlie Hunnam's awful Dick Van Dyk accent.

I re-watched The Prestige last night.

I saw it many years ago and thought it was pretty good, though I was slightly disappointed by the science fiction element of the plot, plus I seem to be one of the few people who think Bowie's performance as Tesla wasn't great.

Having watched it again I've decided that, despite a few flaws. it's an excellent film.

Romantic fantasy that veers between the charming and the ridiculous. Colin Farrell plays the angelic figure, Russell Crowe the demon and Will Smith has a cameo as the Devil.

One of the worst films EVAH! I live near Green Street and that film is endlessly entertaining. You score too low!!

Performance (1970) - Inspired by a favourite Big Audio Dynamite song, I'm watching some Nicolas Roeg films. I hadn't seen this one before. I found it interesting. Starts off as a violent mobster film, then becomes.......something else. I will probably watch it again. Still don't think Mick Jagger can act, though.

I watched The Secret Window on TV last starring Johnny Depp - I'd completely forgotten the ending and was a bit shocked.

The night before I watched an old film Don't Bother To Knock on TV - it was from a Daphne Du Maurier story. It starred Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie. It suddenly struck me how bad Julie's acting was in this film. Good film though.

Are you sure that's the title, sounds more like the very intense and creepy film Don't Look Now.

Cavalry vs Indians Western with Van Heflin as the scout trying to keep the peace after the US Government reneged on all their treaties. Native Americans get to play the Sioux warriors but for the squaw they hired wide-eyed, pert-nosed Susan Cabot and reddened her skin.

First feature directed by the great Carol Reed is a naval adventure yarn set in the 1790's. A rather energetic leading performance by a teenage Hughie Green with Margaret Lockwood as his love interest.

WW1 spy drama set in Austria with Gilbert Roland as the spy-catcher and Constance Bennett as the spy he falls for. Contrived ending.

Hilarious.

Righteous Kill. Saw the 'twist' a mile off but still very watchable & enjoyable - 7/10

Goosebumps 5/10.

Nowhere near as scary as it was cracked up to be IMHO.

The final Hunger Games movies, the part 2 thing. Blah blah boring blah.

THE weepie for us women back in the 70s We used to all get together when we knew it was on for a good old blub Crikey just typing this is making me fill up 9/10

Working Girl (1986) starring Melanie Griffth and Harrison Ford.

I hadn't seen this in many years, and it's still as watchable as it ever was. It's one of those films that withstands repeated viewing. Story best described as a come-uppance comedy/drama and a good one. 7½ / 10.

Yeah wife wants to watch this not looking forward to it, Catching Fire was good the rest are a snoozefest.

Time Out of Mind

Inert, overlong, but still effective homeless drama that captures well the isolation and bottom-rung frustration of its subject. Another very good performance from the somewhat undervalued Richard Gere. 7/10

Spectre

2nd viewing, revealing nothing new. It's just sort of there, isn't it. Doing standard Bond things. There might be something curiously fascinating about it if it wasn't so drawn out. All a bit dull all told. 5/10

London Has Fallen

Poor sequel with most of the budget blowing up in the trailer. It might pass muster as an easy night of beer & pizza entertainment were the xenophobia not so eagerly underlined. King of the phone-ins Morgan Freeman looks on glumly. 4/10

The Salvation 7/10 - A very good western.
