The Village - 6/10
I know most people hate this , but I enjoyed it. The setting is great, the creature designs are creepy, there's something about it I quite like overall.

The Lady In The Van. A well made fascinating film that becomes harder to watch towards the end. The Trailer and posters give the impression it is a comedy, it isn't, it's a biopic of a woman's tragic downfall and her relationship during that time with the writer Alan Bennett.

Impossible not to compare it to the original, of which it is inferior in every way.

No Good Deed [2003]. Director: Bob Rafelson

6/10

Modern Film Noir from a Dashiell Hammett story with Samuel L. Jackson as a cello-playing cop ensnared by piano-playing Milla Jovovich and her gang of thieves. This seems to be the last film from Rafelson, who began his career by creating The Monkees.

The Peanuts Movie - 5/10 beautifully animated but such a boring and obvious story. I considered stopping watching about half way though but persevered. OK for one watch I suppose.

In The Heart Of The Sea - 8/10 Nice old fashioned & slow, like a film from the 70s but with an immense budget. Big fan of Moby Dick here.

The Man from Uncle - 1/10 Dull, so dull I dozed off for a few minutes. Stopped it half about way through. Loved the original.

Attack the Block - 7/10 Finally got round to seeing this as it was on TV. Gorier than I expected (which is fine), some very annoying characters, some redeemed themselves. A bit predictable in places.

The Survivalist (2015) - 5/10

Joyless subject matter elevated from completely dire by Mia Goth who has considerable screen presence.

The Friends Of Eddie Coyle - 8/10
Gritty 1970's Robert Mitchum low level crook shenanigans.

The Ear - 8/10
Kafka-esque paranoid Czech wave noir . (It'ssss the end of the world as we know it!)

Zardoz - I can never make my mind up if I like this movie or not. I probably don't.
