I started watching The Accidental Tourist, which I used to think was a very good film. This time I got part way through and relaised I couldn't be bothered with it, though. Maybe I was just in the wrong mood to enjoy it.

The Martian with Matt Damon. I really enjoyed it but had to put subtitles on - re the fast natural techno American speak. A good film for all that.

Beverly Hills Cop - I gave up on it about an hour in. Paper thin plot, one dimensional 'characters'. Some good music, but the film is just crap. That's actually the first ever Eddie Murphy film I've tried, and probably the last.

Blue Ruin (2013)
Violent revenge movie about a vagrant getting even with the family who killed his parents. Very good indy movie , similar to 'No country for old men' but in many ways leaner, more relentless and more nihilistic. |

Very good indy movie , similar to 'No country for old men' but in many ways leaner, more relentless and more nihilistic. The Family Friend Paolo Sorrentino directed this Italian film which centres around a sleazy old loan shark. It's very stylish, at times surreal and the humour is very dark. Very similar in style to Paul Thomas Anderson the film might not be to everyone's taste but I thought it was pretty good. 7/10 |
