Criminal (2016) I thought this film was brilliant, great performance from Kevin Costner, very believable psycho! It's not groundbreaking stuff but as an action film with touches of humour it definitely worked for me.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid [1969]. Director: George Roy Hill

8/10

Still as fresh as when I first saw it on holiday in Cornwall in 1970. Bank robbers are such lovable rogues.

Bastille Day- generic besson style thriller with an excellent rooftop chase sequence. Not really worth a cinema visit but good Friday night DVD fodder. 6/10

Colonia (2016) 7/10

Based on the true story about Colonia Dignidad. A Chilean sect ran by Nazi paedophile Paul Schafer.

The Jungle Book - (2016)

Fabulous - visual treat. I saw this in 3D which I recommend. Charming and emotional. Flawless CGI and Neeli Sethi was superb seeing he was the only actor.

The Big Bang [2010]. Director: Tony Krantz

5/10

Film Noir mixed with quantum physics and garish photography.

The Last Boy Scout [1991]. Director: Tony Scott

5/10

Familiar action movie from the writer of the Lethal Weapon movies.

*******
Fading Gigolo [2013]. Director: John Turturro

6/10

Turturro also writes and stars as a middle-aged book dealer who takes on a new role as a gigolo in NYC. Woody Allen plays his pimp, not as convincing as when speaking his own dialogue.

Son of Saul -10/10- Very disturbing and harrowing. The direction they took with the cinematography was creative and worked very well (can't go into too much detail on why without spoilers).

There were only 5 people in the cinema at the screening I attended and this is only the second day of it being out A bit of a shame but it is on limited release, after all.

Interstellar - 8/10

I know I am a late in seeing this but wow that ending kinda ruined the film for me. Looking round it seems some enjoyed the ending while others hated it.

Take the ending away, I really liked the film and the time flew by watching it.

Special Correspondants (2016) 5/10

The quality of Ricky Gervais' output has seriously diminished since his writing partnership with Stephen Merchant ended.

Vera Farmiga is easily the best thing in this.
