The Man from Uncle (2015). Hmm. As someone who used to greatly enjoy the TV series back in the 60's I was prepared for a disaster. It didn't seem to have much connection to the original other than a few character names, but then my wife said it might be more enjoyable if we forgot it was called 'The Man from Uncle' and just regarded it as a 'cheap comedy/thriller from Guy Richie'. From that point on it was great fun.
Best thing was the music - some great tracks.
Either 3/10 or 8/10, depending how you approach it.
Landmine goes click - kept me interested but quite shoddily made looks like it was edited with Windows movie maker in parts and at least 20 minutes too long. 6/10
If the western didn't exist it would have been necessary to create the genre just so Walter Brennan could play Judge Roy Bean in this. He won as Oscar as best supporting actor to the also wonderful Gary Cooper.
Jupiter Ascending - I'm a big fan of the Wachowskis, I admired the ambition of Cloud Atlas and am one of the few people who acknowledge that there is such a thing as The Matrix trilogy. This however was poor throughout bar a few interesting action scenes. A cross between the poor elements of Star Wars and a Terry Gilliam film (I don't like Gilliam).
3/10
Dazed and Confused - Coming of age drama about how 'cool' the 70s were. Didn't do anything for me.
4/10
Spooks: The Greater Good - More of the same from the TV series, with a bigger budget.
Whilst I agree with most of the criticisms, I quite enjoyed it. I thought Emilia Clark was particularly good as Sarah Connor, actually quite liked Arnie in it too I think they made the best of what they had. T2 will always be my favourite of the series, just the perfect action film.
