High Rise- I like Ben Wheatley but just couldn't find anything to like about this 3/10

San Andreas - Disaster films like this really should be around 90 minutes because the family oriented fluff is just unnecessary.

Deadpool 10/10

**Edit**
Actually last film was Spectre. Utterly mediocre and even though it was only 2 weeks ago I could not tell you what the plot was, forgotten already. Right from the opening sequence we thought is was a poor relation to Casino Royale & Skyfall. Even QOS was better! 4/10

Maggie 5/10

I lost interest about 3/4 of the way through and don't know how it ended and I don't really care.

I just watch Red Eye (2005)

It was cheesy but really entertaining.

I am shocked they did not make a sequel.

Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy characters have amazing chemistry in it

Dreamcatcher (2003) - Not very good, but I watched it all. Damian Lewis had plenty of (unintentionally) funny lines. Morgan Freeman's eyebrows were a bit alarming.

The People vs. Larrry Flynt [1996]. Director: Milos Forman

7/10

Enjoyable tale of the life of the porn king publisher of Hustler Magazine. Woody Harrelson is great in the title role and Courtney Love even better as his wife. Flynt himself has a cameo as the judge who give himself 25 years custody.

*******
The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum [1975]. Directors: Volker Schlöndorff & Margarethe von Trotta

7/10

Adaptation (with the author's collaboration) of the Heinrich Böll novel about a young woman who has a one night stand unaware that the guy is a wanted Red Army Faction anarchist. The police and right-wing press then make her life hell whilst trying to track him down.

*******
Kid Cannabis [2014]. Director: John Stockwell

7/10

True story of a bunch of teenagers who start smuggling cannabis across the US/Canadian border, then get drawn into hard drugs and organised crime.

The Witches

Joan Fontaine's village teacher gets the spooks in fair-to-middling Hammer outing. Some low-watt eerieness from Nigel Kneale keeps it ticking over 6.5/10

The Beyond

Gory tricks from the infamous Lucio Fulci. A narrative shambles, but it has its moments. Those with a phobia of having their eyeballs eaten by spiders should probably avoid. 6/10

Florence Foster Jenkins 8/10

Fantastic film. Hugh Grant at his least Hugh Grantish, Simon Helberg totally opposite to Howard Wolowitz and Meryl Streep proving she can't sing when she wants to.

In two words: Hilariously tragic.

Mississippi Burning (1988) - Hadn't seen this since it was first released on VHS. Appreciated it much more this time,. Very good film. Probably watch some more Gene Hackman films this week.

The Hateful Eight - 9/10

Typical Tarantino. Lots of dialogue, bloody, funny and entertaining.
With nearly a 3 hour runtime I thought it'd drag but before I knew it, it was over. And I wanted more.

I've just watched the 1995 film, "Lone Star" again.

I must watch it three or four times a year.
Quite poignant since the lead actress Elizabeth Pena died in 2014.

10 Cloverfield Lane 8/10

Not a bad stand alone film, that has very little to do with the original Cloverfield (except the last 10 minutes or so). A few interesting twists and side stories make it worth a watch.

Mr Holmes 7/10

A light and entertaining look into the fictional sleuth as he lives out his twilight years and struggles with memory loss. Quite sad in parts, especially if you have/had an elderly parent with dementia. Sir Ian McKellen does a great job at playing the lead role.

Started watching 'Prometheus' on TV the other night

SFX were OK........but it was very cliched (every SF cliche going) and the dialogue was terrible

gave up after about an hour

The Survivalist - very interesting movie with very little dialogue and some really nice camerawork. Terence Malick was obviously a big inspiration 8/10

Eye In the Sky - Helen Mirren, Alan Rickman, Aaron Paul

Really good tense, thought provoking thriller about the morality of war drones.

I am glad I don't have to make these decisions every day.
