Creep 2014 - a rather good entry in the found footage horror genre. A pretty nifty little pot boiler with indie king Mark Duplass. Genuinely unnerving stuff 7/10

Lessons in Love (or for our American members: Some Kind of Beautiful).
starring Pierce Brosnan, Salma Hayek, Jessica Alba and Malcolm McDowel.

A rom-com but not all cheesy and schmaltzy. Entertaining and funny Pierce Brosnan is perfect casting as the English professor.

Based on my enjoyment of the film I give it a solid 7½ out of 10.

Captain America: Civil War.

Seen it in both 2D & 3D and, as I've posted elsewhere, I just don't "get" 3D. Will save my money next time but the film was excellent and would be a 9.5.

Great movie but not recommended if you have an upcoming dental appointment

I love 70s movies too - just showed my nephew the original version of The Taking of Pelham 123 which he loved.

I finally got round to watching Hateful 8 last night. I enjoyed it, but it's a long film, 2:47. It has all the usual Tarantino elements, great characters, briliant dialogue, non-linear storytelling and violence by the bucketload, but for a change he seems to have actually paid attention to the cinematography of the movie as this also looks fantastic. The outdoor shots of snowy landcapes are just beautiful, and I never thought I'd say that of a Tarantino movie. It did take a while to get going though, as it introduced the various characters and their relationships with each other, but the last 30 minutes or so rockets along in an orgy of carnage. The one thing I didn't like was the narrator that cropped up once or twice, it seemed unnecessary, like Tarantino couldn't figure out how to tell that part of the story so opted to just have it narrated. Not my favourite Tarantino film by a long shot, but a great addition to his body of work nonethelesss. 7.5/10.
