The Bronze (2015)

Vile small town Olympian has been trains up and coming perky contender.
Fairly amusing!
The Ambassador

The Nice Guys (2016) 9/10

Not at the level of "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang", but still superior to pretty much everything else I've seen this year.

Loved it.

Jason Bourne. Very enjoyable film, relentless from the opening scene to the end credits. 7/10

Watched two very different films

No Lady (1931) - It was on Talking Pictures TV. Always like to see films that are set in Blackpool, and even though this is absolutely ridiculous, I still enjoyed it. 7/10

Candyman (1992) - Another film I'd only seen once (on VHS, when it was first released). Not bad at all. I actually re-watched it again with the commentary on. Another 7/10

The Hateful Eight very violent but beautifully acted.

The Missing Million [1942]. Director: Philip Brandon

5/10

Where would British crime cinema of the studio years be without Edgar Wallace adaptations? This is not one of the best.

*******
Tammy [2014]. Director: Ben Falcone

4/10

Another fun-free Melissa McCarthy movie.

*******

Looney Tunes: Back in Action [2003]. Director: Joe Dante

6/10

Live action mixes with cartoons and the latter come off best. Steve Martin is dreadful as the villain. Joe Dante fills it with loads of references to his favourite films and TV shows, including some Daleks 2 years before Doctor Who made its comeback.

*******
Splash [1984]. Director: Ron Howard

6/10

Tom Hanks effortlessly becomes a star though the film drags in the second half.

The Imitation Game. 0/10. Gross caricature of Alan Turing. The original stage play, Breaking the Code, is infinitely better.

Just Go With It - 5/10- The highlight was seeing Aniston & Nicole Kidman in hula outfits, they both have hot bods for their age but have ruined their faces.

Michael Jackson: Live in Bucharest: The Dangerous Tour (1992) 10/10

Attack on Titan Part 1 (2015) - 5/10
Attack on Titan Part 2 (2015) - 2/10

Sigh. Note to self: Avoid Japanese tentpole films for at least ten years.

Suicide Squad: 6/10

Started off ok, drags a bit towards the end. Dumb, but reasonably entertaining.

Sicario: 5/10

Realistic, but soulless and lacking in atmosphere. Overall, just a bit dull.

Triple 9 - 4/10

I was looking forward to this. Shouldn't have bothered.

London Has Fallen - 6/10

I liked the first one a lot, but this one felt more than a bit flat. The dreadful effects didn't help.

Zootopia (7/10)

An interesting and funny Disney that suffers from the two
main complaints that so many new films have; it is too long
at 1hr 48 for many children, and contains some of the most
saccharine moralising that any Disney film ever had. Worth
a watch if your expectations are not sky high!

Eye In The Sky 10/10

Gripping, shout at the screen stuff.

Jason Bourne (2016)
Nothing new, similar to the Bourne Ultimatum tbh. Great action/chase scenes though, Tommy Lee Jones is good. 7/10

Lawless (2012)
Bootlegger brothers in rural 1930's Virginia come up against sadistic, corrupt law man in the shape of Guy Pearce. Based on a true story.
Thoroughly enjoyable. 8.5/10

The Longest Week [2014]. Director: Peter Glanz

6/10

First feature from Mr Glanz, who clearly likes watching Wes Anderson and Woody Allen films.

*******
Belle [2013]. Director: Amma Asante

8/10

Mixed race lovechild raised by aristocrats in 18th century England. That much is historical fact, the romantic drama an engaging embellishment.

*******
Three Night Stand [2013]. Director: Pat Kiely

4/10

Irritating love triangle.

Men in Black - 6/10

Halloween Three: 8/10; a separate story to the other Halloween films and better than any of them, save the original.

Tallulah (2016) - HBO original movie starring Ellen Page and Allison Janney. Good film, with two terrific central performances. 9/10

Onion Field (1979): 10/10. Awesome. The cop's death is one of the most intense scenes I've ever watched.

Chicago [2002]. Director: Rob Marshall

8/10

Best Picture Oscar winner that revived the Hollywood musical genre.
