Road Games (2015)

British / French thriller about a British man in France hitchhiking to Calais, who is joined by a young French woman on the road. A serial road killer is on the loose, and the pair find themselves seeking refuge with an odd couple in their large house. Strange goings on aplenty, and some twists and turns as well. Beautifully filmed, and a quirky little story that will have you wondering just what the heck is going on. Reminiscent of something from the 80s like an episode of Tales of the Unexpected.
Is this a remake of the 80's movie starring Stacey Keach and Jamie Lee Curtis?

Otley - Another little-known, obscure British comedy/drama from 1969. I saw this on TV once years ago.

Tom Courtenay plays Otley, a down on his luck waster, wandering around doing not very much, sleeping on Friends floors etc. On one such night his friend is assassinated in the next room, and Otely wakes up 2 days later in a field, and soon finds himself wanted for murder, and being sought after by various shadowy agency types.

It was written and directed by Dick Clement, who along with Ian Le Frenais wrote many successful British sitcoms such as Likely Lads, Porridge and Auf Wiedersehen Pet.

It's a sort of very typically late 60's, kitchen-sink-meets-spy stuff. The dialogue is quite sharp for the time, and it has a very good cast...Romy Schneider, James Bolam, Leonard Rossiter, Ronald Lacey, Alan Badel, Freddie Jones (As an extremely camp villain, the sort you would just not get away with these days), Geoffrey Bayldon, Robin Askwith and Keneth Cranham.

Surprisingly for a minor British movie of the time, it has some decent chases and action sequences, notably a hilarious driving test which turns into a car-chase.

Courtenay is also very good in the role, and there shades of his famous Billy Liar persona as he adopts an upper class accent to pose as a spy.

A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) - Hadn't seen this since the '80s. Thought it was alright. Some of the acting seemed a bit ropey, but the Freddy scenes carried it. 7/10

Just finished watching A League of Their Own (give it 9/10)

Forgot what a good film this is and, of course, it produced the classic line "There's no crying in baseball!". Tom Hanks and Geena Davis were terrific. It's a good film and made me laugh more than a few times.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching it again for the first time since it was released!

Lone Survivor. Quite good but I'd have preferred it to have been more accurate and less like Rambo.

Blood Father - 6.5/0 - This is the type of role you want to see Mel Gibson play, just wish he was more violent in it.

Terminus 8/10.

I enjoyed this movie a lot.

NB If you decide to watch it on Netflix, make sure you have the subtitles on - you'll find out why.

IMDB says it's not, but I haven't watched either one so can't really say.

I recently watched a few episodes from the first series of the original '80s Equalizer, and I thought they were mostly poor, even though I remember enjoying the show back in the day. Much prefer Woodward as Callan.

Anway, I watched both of the Morgan Freeman 'Dr. Alex Cross' films, Kiss the Girls (1997), and Along Came a Spider (2001). They were both alright, but not great films. I'll give them 7.5/10 and 6.5/10 respectively.
