Life Partners [2014]. Director: Susanna Fogel

7/10

Best friends' relationship gets tested when the straight one finds a husband. Leighton Meester plays the lesbian one and her real life husband Adam Brody plays the straight one's boyfriend.

State of Emergency [2011]. Director: Turner Clay

6/10

Low budget zombie movie is effectively done (technically not zombies as they are alive and infected, as in 28 Days Later. Still needs a head shot to kill them).

Apollo 13

Tom Hanks heads a large cast in impressively envisaged take on the famous near-disaster. Ron Howard steers it to safety with typical efficiency. 7.5/10

Legend

Well they do say a lot of legends are actually bullshit, don't they. Never a truer word than with this block-headed, over-polished gangster turd. Tom Hardy makes a fool of himself, twice. 3/10

Session 9 (2001) 6.5/10

Blatant rip-off of 'The Shining' with a 'modern' found-footage-type (recording) addition. But there is only one David Caruso.

The Intern - Very easy to watch, and not too taxing on the ol' noggin. The husband character of Ann Hathaway though, was completely miscast and it ended so abruptly.
5/10

Ferris Buellers Day off - Classic. And upon this viewing I noticed a lot of the John Hughes traits which then popped up in a similar fashion in Home Alone. The clever use of props Ferris used to trick his parents in to thinking he was still in bed / Kevin doing the same to trick the Burglers in to thinking there were more people at home...

The Dinosaur Project [2012]. Director: Sid Bennett

5/10

Feebly plotted Lost World yarn. Needed more of the dinosaurs and less of the humans.

*******
Flags of our Fathers [2006]. Director: Clint Eastwood

7/10

Well-mounted WW2 tale of the marines who raised the American flag on Iwo Jima after the gruelling battle and the way they were exploited for propaganda purposes thereafter (starting with the raising of a second, bigger flag which is the one in the famous photograph).

His Majesty O'Keefe (1954) 6/10

Burt Lancaster in a true story as a South Pacific seafarer in the 1870s on a get-rich-quick scheme to make money out of coprah harvesting.

Great location shooting all over the Pacific but the politically incorrect depictions of locals make for uncomfortable viewing.

Popstar:Never Stop Never Stopping (2016) A kind of Spinal Tap for the millennial generation, try's hard ( very hard) but even loads of cameos (including Simon Cowell) weren't enough for me. 4ish/10

Nerve (2016) The bad bits were the ending and bits of the plot BUT i quite enjoyed it, nice filming, great performances from the cast, i am a fan of Emma Roberts and really enjoyed her performance in this. It was a lovely film to look at as well which is always a big plus to me.Brilliant Soundtrack ( I forgot to say!! ). Overall very decent and a 7/10.

I Am Not a Serial Killer 7/10

A story of a small-town American misfit teen whose mother runs the local funeral home. A series of murders happens, as he helps out in the mortuary he starts to notice that the bodies each have a part missing and he investigates. It's quite indie and a different twist on the genre, had more of a 1950's feel than anything. Not a slasher, the twist is interesting and unexpected. The suspense is good.

I enjoyed it a lot, the lead (Max Records) is very good and his co-star is the excellent Christopher Lloyd, the professor himself - in a very different role!

Worth a watch.

I don't understand how it got the hype that it did. The book is so BAD that I left it in a park as I don't bare to read it anymore!

I wanted to see Nerve but my local odeon only showed it for one week, in the middle of the day.

Also watched Popstar this week, a few giggle here and there but definitely wasn't worth the hype that the trailers were making it out to be.

Cinema wise; went to see Kubo & the Two Strings last weekend and adored it from start to finish. I think it could be my film of the year maybe? Loved the soundtrack, the character development, the story... perfect all round. The cinema was full but full of families with very little children who appeared not to like it that much!

We had tickets to see Magnificent 7 or whatever it's called but sacked it off. Does not look like my type of movie, and poor reviews.
