Stream video from Android phone to iPad?

I have nearly 100GB of storage on my android phone and lots of video but only a 16GB iPad air2, when I'm travelling is there any way to stream the content from the phone over wifi?

If anyone could suggest any apps that would be great.

I have 5GB spare on my iPad and I have loaded my phone up with 20GB of content, looks like i'll be using my phone for the trains, flights and travel.

Lesson learned, should have bought an iPad with more storage!

Had this issue with my ipad mini 16gb last year when I went to the us.
No way I could find of streaming from the phone, best I could do was to plug in memory card readers 1 android and 1 ios firewire transfer the video to the memory card then to the ipad, not perfect but it did allow me to update the movie selection a bit while away.

Just install Plex on both phones - will even be able to stream over internet. Do not need to buy any Plex premium subscriptions.

Another option could be Reflector 2.

I thought that I'd just use my phone if I couldn't find a way to stream. Most of the time I won't have internet when I'm travelling and anyway the content I want to watch is already put onto my phone. I just thought it would be nice to be able to access it on the iPad.

I have never used Plex, does it use wifi to stream between the devices as I won't be able to connect them to a common wifi (except adhoc/direct/hotspot).

I'm guessing I have to buy Plex on both platforms separately, I see it's £3.99 in the Appstore and £3.30 in app purchase on Google Play, shame there's no option to test it and make sure I'm happy first.

Considering just taking my phone for the 2 weeks, but as so much of the time is travelling, many, many hours of flights and trains I just thought the iPad would be a nicer screen to use.

Just an update for anyone who wants to do this with the answer in case it come up in a search on google etc.

Step 1 - Create a mobile hotspot on your phone, mine is an LG G3.

Step 2 - On the phone I can go into share and connect (no additional apps required on my LG) and to Media Server, enable content sharing and select to share video, audio or whatever.

Tept 3 - On the iPad download VLC player and then connect the iPad to the hotspot you created on your phone in step 1, go to local network in VLC and there you'll see all your videos to stream.

Sounds like it but I imagine it uses a standard that you can download an app to do. It sounds like it's DLNA?

Just to add that the mobile hotspot doesn't even have to have an active mobile data connection, you just need to have both devices on the same wifi and that's away of doing it if you're away from home etc.
