dog peeing in house after puppy was here.

my dog is one year old. she was happily doing her business outside. I reluctantly fostered a puppy for a few weeks and my dog didn't like it picking up her toys, eating and drinking from her bowls although I tried to stop that. a few days ago, my dog pee'd on the floor 3 times in one day while looking at me very dejectedly. I may have imagined the look but I sent the puppy back . I made a big fuss of my dog, being extra kind to her, but now 2 days later she pee'd on the floor twice. ive taken her out and rewarded her for peeing outside. just ruffling her ears and saying good girl .will this work? is there anything else I can do please?

I would suggest just get a vet check to make sure it's not an infection or something first, then if that is ruled out reassure her she is ok and not going anywhere, give her time she will I am sure be fine. TBH it sounds like she wants to be an only dog so I wouldn't foster with her.

Is it in the same spot or all over could be that you haven't cleaned it up properly and your dog can still smell it so will go there, same goes if the puppy had an accident dogs will pee over other dogs wee to mark territory

The puppy will have left its scent on the floor and this encourages other dogs to mark scent over this. Your floors will have to be fully cleaned to get rid of the scent of the puppy's urine. In order to do this, clean the area with a detergent, such as water and washing up liquid, let this dry. Get white wine vinegar and cover the area and leave for about 15 minutes, then clean this up. If you Google there are more in-depth explanations on what do do. This should stop your adult dogs weeing where the puppy has been.

The urine on the floor, even though you have wiped it up, will have started breaking down into ammonia, an alkali. The white wine vinegar, an acid will neutralise it.

In order to see the wee spots, get a UV light and this will highlight where you have to clean.

I think this is actually normal as this is something experienced by myself recently. I don't think it means there is something wrong with your older dog.

My Mum impulse bought a puppy recently, and seeing she wasn't up to fully caring for it I have taken over the pup. It's not my Mum can't look after dogs she just got older and forgot how much work a pup is. She has two older dogs and both the other dogs started doing the same thing. So perfectly natural under the circumstances. They're just acting to instinct to cover up the scent. I would have like one of my Mum's dogs at mine to be company for pup but I have refrained because of this exact problem Bad enough cleaning up after pup! Never mind the two of them

you need to make sure the smell has gone and broken down before using vinegar even then I would use white vinegar.

The best thing to use really is biological washing powder
