Why isn't Diane angry with the others for locking her and Val in to the Hall of Mirrors or whatever it was? Also, why isn't Eric blaming himself or the others for doing it?
As stupid as this sounds, I know I would be angry so I don't understand why they aren't exploring this. Maybe too much in shock?

Collie and I were just saying exactly the same thing on the ep thread. I love Eric, but he's got a damn cheek shouting at Chrissie under the circumstances. Maybe they're saving it for later, but I would've thought it would've been the first thing Diane thought about after Val died.

I was also thinking the same throughout the entire episode.

Bob, Brenda, Edna, Pearl, Ashley, Sandy, Megan and Rishi all suddenly reappeared as if nothing had happened and no explanation as to their whereabouts at the time of the crash

I'm not asking the writers to explain every individual's position when the helicopter hit, however, there's usually a brief and simple explanation in these situations, the same as when a child appears to be missing and is with the phantom child minder/babysitter etc. The aftermath has been disappointing so far and just as disjointed as the event episodes.

Exactly. I would have thought Diane would have gone mental at them. But it all seems to have been forgotten. Plus no one seems to have asked why Val was even in there and why they didn't get out..

Just watch the bloody soap and stop questioning ever single bit of detail, Who knows what happens in future episodes, It's like everyone here wants it all to be done in one episode, Even though you all say it's not realistic well neither is having everything in one episode.

jeeez

It does seem like a big miss but I guess everybody is so shocked and grief stricken that they're not thinking straight enough to have got there yet. Even if they have, perhaps they feel it would be crass or cruel to mention it - after all eric's foolishness in locking her in has been severely punished, he clearly adored and loved her and now has lost her. So maybe, just as Alicia telling David he needs to let the plan to fake Val's death and then disappear go in the circumstances - even though David has every right to feel aggrieved, it is a nearly unforgivable thing for Eric to have been prepared to do to his child.

Maybe Diane knows that they only locked them in to get them to resolve their issues, they didn't know what would happen with the helicopter crash, resulting in Val's death. She knows they only had good intentions at heart. Also, as mentioned above, Eric doesn't need any extra guilt as no doubt he'd probably beating himself up about it already. He's devastated enough. Diane also seems to be holding it together well, all things considered, she isn't lashing out or pushing people away, so there isn't a reason to take it out on anyone who aren't really to blame.

I agree with that. However, what strikes me as unbelievable is that, after locking them in, they go off for hours and hours and leave them there. I can imagine going for a coffee and then going back to see how it's going but what they did was ridiculous.

Eric got on my nerves shouting at Chrissie last night, if he hadn't of acted like an idiot and locked his wife inside she'd be alive.

This.

Even if there had been no crash they were away for about 7 hours, knowing that Diane and Val were locked in there, with no food, water and toilet facilities!

I had assumed that the idea was for a fairground worker to let them out later when the thing was opened for business (with the menfolk being well out of reach of any anger), but then we didn't see any people actually working the fair either, so yeah.

True, but it seems that on their return, they were expecting to find them at the pub together, presuming that someone else would have found them. Also, they'd stayed out all night drinking so they probably weren't thinking things through rationally. They probably just expecting to come back to them being annoyed at them for pulling that stunt on them but grateful for making them see sense, not to find Val had died and a helicopter had crashed into the village hall.
