Slebs Contracts

It used to be a given that ALL the Slebs got the same fee,

Then they changed it so that if you went out in Week 1 you got a much smaller percentage, and if you actually WON, you got what might be considered a hefty bonus.

This system had the advantage that you had to WANT to "do" Strictly. It was good money, but not THAT good.

It now seems that the Slebs can negotiate their own fees. Have I been sleeping? When did that start??

Do you have a link to back up the fee negotiation story?

I don't know if they ever got the same fees I do know they changed the system after Martina Hingis (who was paid large flat fee) went week one don't think Martina didn't 'want' to do strictly I just think she just unlucky due to splitting the couples into two groups and eliminating one from each group

It was widely discussed at the time.

When the pros were getting @£35k, the Celebs were getting @£50k.

At the time there was no suggestion that Martina Hingis got any more then everyone else that series.

One of the reasons given at the time was to "level the playing field". Imagine paying, say, Katie Price £250k, and she goes out in Week 2. Not a good use of the licence fee.

I might be out of touch, but I thought they got paid according to how far they get in the show.

I must say, I'm absolutely fine with this - if it's still in use.

Seems fair enough to me, too.

Take this with a pinch of salt, but Piers Morgan claims to have been offered 'six figures' to appear on this year's Strictly. I'm assuming he's not talking about the winner's fee. (A grateful GBP will be glad to hear he turned it down....)

I would take that with a pinch of salt as the BBC is unlikely to offer a contract to someone who any chance of appearing in court charged with industrial scale phone hacking. Then again, if a prime minister can make that glaring mistake then perhaps the BBC can be equally incompetent.

I can believe Piers was offered big money to do DWTS, but not SCD. I think that article is deliberately vague about SCD. I wouldn't mind him actually.
