My older BT Youview box T1000 that I just use as a Freeviewpvr as still not updated to the lastest software version. When I do a manual seen it says it has the latest version.
Yet the BT G4 box that I also use for BT TV services updated its software nearly a month ago. Darren |

Darren Just wish to know how they go about the updates on our boxes...? Date/age of box? Customers names ? Area ? Customers bill dates? Or do they put it slowly out to make sure that they have not made an error in the software ?

Report by Youview .....
As from 28/11/16 Youview site has updated to a new look and like all large site updates it may take so time for old users to learn were links are etc.... Also big news is that all Youview boxes are to get a free large update which will change the boxes into a internet based services . Flash software has been dropped for the HTML 5 software which most internet site are now using. BT will like other companies give notice of the box update and you will need to have linked to the internet were the software will come from and it will be rolled out like all software have done. The HTML 5 will work using cloud ( server) technology which is told to make the box work faster and updates can be done quicker and faster ... you will see MyView change to My TV and new mini Guide ...new home screen that will have thumbnail images ... You do not need to change any Youview box to get the update as all boxes will work with the new software ... and will speed up boot times for older boxes from around 20 seconds to 3 or 4 seconds ... BT & Talk Talk will get a new MoreTV area on the guide ... Talk Talk will get new update first starting from 28/11/16 ... BT & Talk Talk are to make the software into there own versions of Youview logo and name being put behind companies names and logos at boot up. The new software will allow real time use of mobile app to send data to your Youview box were in the past it has taken around 15 minute lag... ONLY down point is the new software will give more data to BT and others to what you are doing with your viewing on the box ..... Please report any letters or email from BT about update ..... ( I feel BT will have to do it in two weeks or wait until after Christmas as many customers will be booking shows to record over that time ? ) |

Proof of pudding will be in the eating. Many software claims do not live up to expectations, we shall see.
And... the viewing habit spyware! I do not wish BT or any other organisation to track and collate my viewing habits. Here is the link you forgot. https://www.youview.com/2016/11/23/y...769.1477091533 |
