One thing that has happened is that as stated we have all our recording back, some were partially viewed. When I checked the recording list all partial views were shown so resuming the programme was possible.
So even though the HDD was not shown during the problem, the start position of the programmes remained as if there had been no issue. I think calling Humax support will not achieve anything as all is currently well. All you will do is invite a suggestion to factory reset and possibly also to reformat the hard disk. |

An updater on my HDR1000S, on ocassion when it boots up I do see my recordings there but the last few times there has been nothing and it is as previously mentioned it is as if the HDR isn't recognising that there is a hard drive in there, today I connected a USB hard drive to the socket at the back and it ask to format it which it did but however I am still not able to record or pause live tv and in Storage it is saying to connect a USB hard drive to record and pause live tv. I guess I will have to try a factory reset but I can't see that making any difference if the box can't see either drive.

If you are prepared to possibly waste a £10 or so, you could try a replacement power supply which can have surprising results with other equipment. Several others have reported a similar intermittent situation as yours which ended in total disk detection failure. No particular reason for suggesting for suggesting a power supply replacement, it is just what I would try unless the unit is under guarantee. |

I have removed the USB hard drive and have now done a factory reset with the original 1TB drive inside the HDR, this has made no difference with all the problems still there so I will as sugested try and get another power suppy and if that doesn't work I'll dig out my old trusty Foxsat and use that

Well I realise this thread is now nearly a year old and maybe forgotten about but in case anyone has email notifications...I have been using my trusty Foxsat receiver and have shelved the HDR in that time, I thought I would dig it out and check out some forums to see if a "cure" had been found, I see some familiar names on other forums addressing this same problem and it seems no progress has been made, seems we are all waiting for Humax to issue some sort of update, anyway I did boot the box back up and although it did see the hard drive to start with further checking showed that the problem was still there, well I didn't expect it to mend itself sitting on a shelf
I haven't got hold of another power supply to test that theory I'm afraid, sorry not to have any good news.

I can quite believe this is the case but from my experience after turning the HDR on and off a few times the problem is soon evident and the hard drive is no longer seen by the HDR you would expect the Humax engineers to test the box for at least a 24hr period.

Hey
I have had a problem of recordings vanishing, I have had to do about 3 factory resets. There was an update on 21st July, perhaps this will fix it? |

Just had an update to my 1100s today, and mines gone tits up, was set to record Quincy, but when the light never changed to its purple colour for record as normal, i thought it hadn't started, so i switched it on to check (was watching something on the PC so couldn't hear if it was going), and noticed it had a new Fressat logo screen coming on, and it was recording.
Also, my recordings disappeared too, was still saying 9% used, but had no recordings there, just had the standard no recordings have been made yet message, but then after a bit, they reappeared. ![]() Light just stays red now all the time, no more Blue for on, Red for Off, Purple for record. Just wondering if my recordings showing up after a bit, is because it now seems to come on instantly when switched on, will check after Quincys finished recording. |

Nope, its broken, timeshift no longer works
![]() I popped Quincy on to make sure it had recorded, it started playing, but started from the end of Minder, so tried to skip it along to Quincy, but can't do it, just keeps saying can't timeshift while retrieving data, try again in a few seconds, or something like that, and can't even stop it from playing or anything, pressed the guide button to bring that up, was all blank, only way to stop it playing was to knock it off and back on, but noticed the light does go Blue still when its on like before. Recordings are still taking a few seconds or so to appear though, after switch on. EDIT: also when popping the info bar on, on a recording, it doesn't appear, instead of the blue time bar, i just get a blank now and next Tv guide bar. EDIT2: Forget all that, its working ![]() I switched it off (via the remote), and just left it off until the HDD stopped going (parked), before switching back on, and it booted up as normal like before, got the HUMAX Freesat screen, then after a few seconds, the new Freesat logo screen came on, before the picture at the top right with the guide, tried my recordings, all there straight away, and can play/stop, Skip etc..., and get the blue time bar. |
