Bryan Kirkwood has been axed from popular Channel 4 teen soap Hollyoaks, Digital Spy can reveal.

Kirkwood was EP from 2006 - 2009, before going to EastEnders (2010 - 2012) and then returning to Hollyoaks in 2012.

While popular during his first stint, Bryan's work on both EastEnders and Hollyoaks have been strongly criticised, earning the nickname "Berkwood" amongst fans.

xItzDannyx and RileyHollyoaks have been drafted in his as Acting EPs, however the role could become permanent. Danny previously wrote his own soap, Gerard Avenue, which ran from September - November 2014, before being put on a hiatus, briefly returning in January and then officially being axed in January, while Riley wrote short-lived soap "Dunbar Street" earlier in the year.

A trailer has been released by bosses of the popular Channel 4 teen soap "Hollyoaks".

The trailer showcases several of the explosive storylines set to rock the village for the remainder of the year, including a new stunt, the 20th anniversary celebrations and a shock return or two!

Amongst the things showcased are Cameron (Cameron Moore) and Celine's (Sarah George) relationship troubles, Joe's (Ayden Callaghan) struggle to get back on his feet, Holly (Amanda Clapham) and Zack's (Duayne Boachie) shock kiss, a shock return that shocks Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe), several romances hotting up and various other things. Two of the most distinctive things in the trailer are Freddie (Charlie Clapham) vs. Trevor (Greg Wood) and the new 20th anniversary stunt, which will kill at least three characters! Hollyoaks' first episode will air tonight.

- Heart monitors beep as nurses surround Jason.
- Mercedes stares at the front door of the McQueen house, and whispers the words "what the hell are you doing back here?"
- Cameron proposes to Celine, who is shocked.
- Cameron punches a wall.
- Mercedes collapses in the park.
- Trevor and Grace passionately kiss.
- Dylan and Nico kiss.
- Cameron and Celine passionately kiss.
- Patrick and Theresa kiss.
- There is a shot of a boat as people cheer.
